The bright sounds of the carnival surrounded the happy couple as they skipped from ride to ride. A date night was just what they needed, especially after the twins had finally been born. There was never a quiet night anymore, and they really needed to spend some quality time together. So after a lot of prodding from a friend who insisted they would be fine keeping an eye on the six month-olds, they headed out for an evening filled with laughter and love.

After a particularly nauseating ride on the teacups, the raven haired man brought his auburn haired, beauty of a wife to a large tent at the far corner of the carnival. The tent gave off an eerie feel that the woman just couldn't shake.

"Can we please not?" she pleaded, pulling away from the man.

He regarded her with ease, knowing his wife was prone to irrational fears. Smiling he said, "It's nothing to fear, Darling. It's just innocent fun."

"I've just got a bad feeling about it," she said, her heart speeding up with just the thought of entering the tent.

"I'm sure it's nothing, Dear," he said, offering his hand to her. "I would never intentionally put you in danger. Besides, it's not like this is real. All these carnies are cons."

She eyed her husband before nodding and accepting his hand. Of course he would never let anything happen her. The mathematician was too protective of her to let anything out of the way happen.

The eerie feeling surrounded the couple as they made their way further into the tent, and the intricate crystals surrounding the tiny table only made the feeling grow. A woman shrouded in a dark veil sat behind the tiny table. The couple could barely see her wrinkled face, but the auburn haired woman decided it was for the better. She was already creeped out enough.

"You come seeking Madam Mirani for your fortune, yes?" the veiled woman spoke. Her voice was raspy and foreign.

The man gave his wife a wild look before he turned his grin upon the veiled woman and said, "Yes, Ma'am."

"Come. Sit with Madam Mirani. I will tell you your fortune," she insisted and gestured to the chair across from her.

The man offered the seat to his wife, and after she sat, he took his place behind her, his hands resting on the back of the chair.

The woman regarded them both with certainty. She knew this was the couple she had been waiting decades for. The feeling only grew as the woman's brown eyes peered up at the mystic. These were the people who's destiny had been sewn into the threads of time. With a final look at the happy couple, she allowed her gaze to fall to the crystal ball in front of her.

She swept her hands over the crystal, and it clouded over quickly, the ghastly light reflecting against her eyes. Her voice became hollow as the words flowed from her mouth.

"A wish was made,
A family torn,
A mother broken,
Her cause forlorn.
Two auburn haired children
United at last.
One knows the future.
One knows the past.
They must be together
To break the curse.
In separation,
Things will only get worse.
A choice must be made.
Hearts must be broken.
Because lies were believed
And words left unspoken.
An auburn haired child
Can change the path.
Words alone
Will affect the aftermath."

As the veiled woman's words settled around the happy couple, a sudden chill filled the pair. Her words had been too close to home, and their minds were filled with thoughts of their twins. The woman abruptly stood from her chair and backed into her husband who, sensing his wife's discomfort, pulled out a note from his pocket and placed it on the table before thanking her and directing his wife out of the tent.

Neither realized just how much the woman's words would come to affect them, but both would soon see that their lives would never be the same.
