Prologue
"Ave! We're running low on lemonade!" Niall called to the small girl.
"I'm hurrying, Niall. Be patient!" She replied to him. She was getting a little annoyed with how bossy he was today. He had the easy job, only selling the refreshment to the customers while she made the sweet drink.
"Here Niall," Avery said, handing him the large jug of lemonade she mixed merely a minute ago. He took it from her frail and petite hands before he placed it on the table. "Thanks." He said with a saccharine smile.
Avery sat next to him on the small table they set up. It was a fairly warm day, and the sun was shining down on her pale and fragile skin, which made her break a small sweat.
A man approached our bijou stand and smiled carefully. "You two kids sellin' lemonade?"
Niall nodded, proudly grinning. "Yes sir, I figured I needed to start making profit now, because her and I," he said, glancing to Avery. "are going to get married one day, and she's expensive."
The man chuckled softly while he stroked his greasy white and grey beard. "I would love a glass, it looks delicious." He smiled.
"That'll be half a pound."
The man reached quickly into his pocket before scratched his head, seemingly confused. "It seems I've misplaced my money.." He spoke before locking his cerulean colored eyes with her honey glazed orbs.
"Will you come.. er... help me get the money from my car? It should only take a second." He smiled sweetly, and both Niall and Avery could practically see the sugar dripping from his mouth.
Niall patted Avery's, back, assuring her that it was okay to go with the man. Though, he should've known better.
Avery smiled, giving Niall a slight peck on his side due to their height difference.
Avery pushed back her small chair that was fit for a girl of her age, and followed the older man to his bright red colored vehicle.
"If you would just hop in the money is in the glove department." The man spoke, his voice deep and husky. It was chilling, but Avery was too young to know.
She climbed into his car and opened the small compartment. The door slammed shut, and the sound made her jump and turn, horror striking on her soft features. Before Avery knew it, he was driving her away.
