Chapter One

"It has been nine years since Avery Williams went missing in Westmeath, Ireland.

She was six years old and had her eyes set on making some money by selling lemonade with her best friend and witness, Niall Horan.

The policemen working this case are highly trained search officials and are still searching for the now fifteen year old girl, but there is no sign of her anywhere.

The man who snatched the girl was said to be tall, he had a long grey beard and black hair. He was older, said to he in his late forties to early fifties. He was driving a van at the time. If you see any signs of Avery, please call the police as soon as possible."

Niall violently turned the television off and watched the black screen instead. It had been nine years since his best friend went missing and she still hadn't been found.

Nine years. It was like nobody really cared to find her. Sure, they may have carelessly search through the woods and waters every other day, but that wasn't good enough. Avery was his best friend, his best friend.

Niall wondered what she looked like now. He figured she was breathtakingly beautiful, candy to the naked eye. Her golden locks were probably past her back now, her blue eyes big and filled with fear. Her skin was most likely fair, pink and plush just like her lips.

Niall knew at some point he would have to take matters into his own hands. What kind of best friend would he be to let her rot wherever she was for another nine years?

It would take a lot, but it would also get him his little Avery back. Though she probably wasn't so little anymore.

Niall glanced over at his parents who were making small talk with each other before standing up. He knew what he had to do, and there was no way he would sit around anymore when his princess was waiting for him to rescue her.

"Mum, Dad, I think I'm gonna go to a friends for the weekend."

He figured it would only take the weekend to find her.

Besides, she was his best friend after all and he knew her better than anyone in the world. But then again, some psycho man was keeping her locked away somewhere.

Niall imagined how she'd been living the past years. The images taunted him and he frequently had nightmares about her. Was the man good to her? Did he feed her and let her bath every day, or was he cruel to her? Niall didn't want to think about it. He knew the man was probably hurting her and touching her, but the image of her smiling made him happy. He was scared for her, and he was going to fix it. Niall was tempted to find Avery and bring her home.

Niall wondered if Avery would remember him.

It was likely that she remembered nothing from her past. She was young at the time. If she had been subjected to this man since she was six, more likely than not she would only remember him.

This realization made Niall wonder if the man had told her she was his daughter or something of the sort. It would make things a lot harder, and truly he hoped this wasn't the case.

Niall rushed up the steps, entering his room and tossing a bag on his bed. He would need to pack light but efficiently.

The more time he spent with unreasonable things was more time his poor little Avery was stuck with such a predator.

While Niall was thinking of Avery, she was dreaming of him as well. She sat with her legs to her chest on the skate floor. The room she was in resembles a basement, but it wasn't as large. There were no lights or windows and absolutely no furnisher. It was musty and cold and she couldn't help but wish that Niall was there with her.

Had he forgot about her? Or does he think about her constantly? She wondered if people were out searching for her. Thought she assumed Ireland had given up on her, she had the slightest bit of hope sparking inside her.

Avery pulled down the sleeves of the ratted sweater she was wearing and let out a deep sigh. She hasn't seen what she looked like in nine years.

He didn't even care what she looked like though, all he wanted was her misery and sex. He was intimidating and Avery was scared shitless of him. She didn't even know his name and he didn't care to ever tell her.

Nine years, she thought someone would've found her by now. Especially Niall. Truthfully, she was afraid that Niall didn't even remember her name.

He had probably moved on, found a wonderful girl to be with, maybe he even had a job. He would've probably been in college by then.

And she should've been in highschool. She would be sixteen in a couple days. The only thing she wanted for that birthday was to see Niall again.

Really, she even wanted to escape.

She had tried before but the man keeping her here for what now seemed to be eternity caught her. The punishment was brutal.

If Niall knew what was lurking inside of her now, he wouldn't even want to bring her back.

Now she was a miserable, depressed girl who is afraid of human contact in general. Niall wouldn't want to see her, she thought. She thought he wouldn't like how she is now. He would see her and then completely give up. Avery knew that she couldn't be changed back to happiness, but she hoped Niall would want to help.

Avery was use to her lifestyle though, not that she enjoyed it. She was fed twice a day and the food wasn't bad. In the morning, he would leave her cereal or eggs and sometimes even pancakes. At night, she would eat whatever he had for dinner.

But in return for the food and hospitality, even though it was low, she had to give him what he wanted.

He opened the steel door and gave the girl a crooked smile as he handed her a plate of food.

Avery took the food and began to eat it, savoring every bite. Tonight, she was eating chicken, potatoes and green beans. For a kidnapper, he did feed well.

"Are you going to thank me?" His voice was raspy and made Avery sick to her stomach.

"Thank you," she replied and went back to eating her meal and thinking about Niall.

This place was complete and utter hell, and Avery couldn't wait until she got to leave.
