Chapter 1

The pack members on patrol signalled for back up moments ago. This must be serious. I call up two of my warriors and we head towards the location of the others.

They explain that a small earthquake just hit the area and they are looking for anyone that might have been caught during it.

"Thats odd, we didn't feel anything back at the pack house, and that's just a few miles away."

"We know, that's why we called for back up. Something just happened, it could be serious."

We cautiously scout through the forest until we reach a small clearing. A huge crater has destroyed the land around it, small fires dancing in the wind.

I tell the others to stay where they are and I move in. As I get closer, a small shape becomes more prominent in the centre of the crater. It looks like a person. A girl.

I run towards her and check her pulse. She's breathing. I lift her up, her delicate body limp in my arms. Seeing this, Kyle and the other wolves start towards me, worry and curiousity etched on their faces.

I decide to take her back and welcome her into the pack. If any of her family members found out that she was nea the crater, the would start to wonder how she is still alive. She can't risk being seen.

Feeling her stir in my arms, I lay her on the sofa and watch. Groggily she opens her eyes. When she notices my presence, she turns to face me, our eyes locked in a gaze.

'Mate.' My wolf whispers to me.

"Mate." I echo.

She stands up suddenly and makes to leave the house.

"Where are you going?" I ponder.

"Away from here. Isn't it obvious." She states in a duh tone.

My wolf becomes frantic, telling me that she can't leave now. "You can't leave..."

"Why is that exactly?"

I try to think of a good excuse, "you've just woken up, you need to rest for a while before you do anything."

"Fine. I might as well since I have nowhere else to go."

I smile. I've finally found her, my mate. Shes not what I expected but still perfect.
