Chapter 3

I walk out of my office and see my beautiful mate sitting in front of the window looking up at the sky. Smiling slightly, I sit by her.

We are silent for a few minutes but curiousity gets the best of me and I ask "why are you looking at the stars like that? You seem upset. Did I do something wrong?"

"No, of course you didn't do anything wrong. I'm just thinking is all." She replies.

"Oh okay then. That's good." She smiles at me and turns her attention back, losing herself in her thoughts.

After a few more silent minutes, I tell her I want to talk to her about something. She seems interested so I ask her "why were you alone when we found you in the forest that day? You're only human, its too dangerous for you."

"I can't tell you..." she whispers, sadness creeping into her voice.

"Why not! You are my mate! You're supposed to tell me, not keep secrets from me!" I shout, feeling angry and disappointed that she doesn't trust me.

She flinches, taken aback by my harsh tone. Tears threaten to fall and I know that if I don't walk away now, I will be at her knees begging for her forgiveness.

I walk away.

Her quiet sobs fill the room. I pity her, I shouldn't have snapped like that. But she wouldn't tell me. I leave the pack house and go for a run, hoping it will clear my mind.

'He seems really mad.' I think. The door slammed shut moments ago, signaling that he has left. I dont understand why it is affecting me so much.

'Its probably that mate thing' the annoying voice in my head suggests.

I guess it... she... is right. The mate bond is powerful.

If I told him the truth, would he be disappointed? Reject me? Fallen angels are the most disgraceful beings, unworthy of any luxuries in life.

We have all done something wrong in life. Made a mistake and people have gotten angry because of it. However, my mistake got me kicked out of my home; it took me away from everything and everyone I once loved.

I accidentally broke an angels pendant. An angels pendant is like a necklace. It holds a power that can only be accessed in moments of need.

It is the most treasured of any angels possessions.

I fiddle with my pendant absent-mindedly, silently hoping that everyone will forgive me one day and let me come home.

I bring myself out of my thoughts and head to my room, a good nights sleep will make me feel a lot better.

After having a shower, I change into my pajamas, a oversized shirt and shorts and crawl into bed, letting the warmth envelop me.

'Why wouldn't she tell me?' I ask my wolf, Aiden.

'Maybe she isn't comfortable here yet. She does need to adjust to her new life.' He tells me.

'I guess you're right. Thanks Aiden' I say.

I decide to go apologise to her. She must be upset.

I run back to the house and go to her room. Opening the door, I realise she is asleep.

'She looks so peaceful.' I think.

Her muffled snores are the only sound as I watch her. Smiling, I close the door, deciding to talk to her tomorrow.

Making my way to one of the guest rooms, I sigh knowing that she won't be next to me. I lay down and close my eyes. They give no relief. Sleep does not welcome me.

I know why though. My mate isn't with me. When a werewolf finds his mate, they must be together otherwise it will cause both of them a lot of discomfort and pain.

But I know she is in the house and won't try to escape again so I let her rest as I can deal with one more night alone.

'She will accept me eventually. I just need to give her some space for now.' I tell my wolf, who is growing impatient.

'I know, but we need to be faster with this, I can't be away from her much longer.' He replies.

'Dont worry, we will work it out.' I reassure him.

'Good.' He states, blocking himself out of my thoughts, leaving me alone.

I stare up at the ceiling for hours, until the first rays of dawn break the horizon.
