Honestly, I don't think this is one of my favourite quotes, but to me it seems like a quote with meaning. It honestly broke my heart when he said this to Sam, but I knew what he meant.

Sam wasn't himself because of Ruby, remember? He acted different and he was endlessly addicted to demon blood too. Which leads us to the tricking of his brain. Ruby tricked him and all that stuff she put into his head affected him.

When Dean started beating the crap out of him, I'm sure it hurt him while he was doing it. Then she. He uttered those 10 words, it most likely shattered him to say it but he knew that wasn't the Sammy he knew. Then Sam walked out and I'm sure it broke all of our hearts.
