You're Disappearing, Mom

When I was younger, my mom taught me to never talk to strangers
Strangers can't be trusted
But weren't we all strangers before?
To the people whom we now call friends and family
To even the person I call; mom

From a stranger, he became a friend
Just a friend you said
A friend whom you chose to love and trust
Your family you chose to lie to
A family who called you; wife, mom
A family who can't look you in the eyes any longer
Much less be around you much less say hello to you anymore
All of our hearts you ripped and tore
Why weren't we enough for you?
Till death do us part you swore to love us

You stand there on your high pedestal
Denying everything, lying
When all along, it was you
It was you who taught us the difference between right and wrong

Days, weeks, months
And yet the lies and deception went on
The fake smiles, the late night conversations
But we saw through it

I don't hate you, mom
I hate who you've turned into
You wanted to be saved so badly that you were willing to break this family apart

How does it feel, mom?
To know that you broke us
To know that you destroyed your image as a mom
To be a stranger all over again
Like a new born baby opening his eyes for the first time
To see a shadow passing by
Only to realise that that shadow is his mom

He's just waiting
Waiting patiently to held and loved
To know that his love can be entrusted with the one woman
The woman who wouldn't break his heart

So are you going to stay a shadow?
Or hold on to us once more like you used to
Cause you're disappearing, mom
So is your shade, the being that makes you, you
Before you know it, you would have burned yourself to nothing
And you will be just another Stranger to us
