Our first anniversary.
Erik was a mess when he need to express his feelings, but his first anniversary with Charles was near –just a few days left– and he didn't want to dissapoint him.
He ran his hand thorugh his hair, thinking in which could be the perfect gift; was then when a brillant idea came throught his mind like a thunderbolt.
He went to his room and opened one of the doors of the closet, taking out a little box placed in one of the shelvings. In that box he kept like a treasure all the memories he'd shared with Charles all that almost for a year; photos, tickets of their dates at the cinema, letters...that memories he like to see again every time he need something to remember why he wasn't Magneto anymore. But not only for that, it was something that prove him of why it was worth enough not to let his rage dominate himself never again. Charles was worth for all he left behind him.
When he opened the box and saw all that memories, all the butterflies in his belly flied like the first time. Like he was living in that memories over and over again. And for once, he really liked to feel something so pure as it's love itself.
He searched in those memories 'till find the one in particular he was looking for; the photo of their first date.In the photo he was wearing that black sweater with turttleneck that Charles likes so much, and Charles was wearing one of his blue cardigans –despite all the bullying that Raven makes to Charles for his style, Erik adores how Charles looks so good in that ''old style'' –. Both looking into each other and blushing like a teenagers. With a little inscription at the bottom of the photo: ''I want you by my side, forever.''
It was his favourite memory, not just because it was their first date, but for how that photo was capable to capture in their eyes all the love they feel for the other. He smiled so much looking into that photo that he felt a little pain in his cheeks, and he knew that he was doing that ''shark smile'' that Charles adores inexplicably so much but scares everybody else.
He took the photo with him and put he box back in its place into the closet, then he left to his study; it was time to make the perfect gift for Charles, or at least, a part of it.

Charles wanted to celebrate their anniversary at the Westchester mansion, and Erik was very pleased of that.
In fact, he wanted to bring Charles to London in that special day, but the telepath was really busy preparing the near aperture of his school, so that trip have to wait a little more. Even like that, Erik was really certain that it doesn't matter where they could celebrate their anniversary or any other regular day; because he knew the place doesen't matter, it was Charles who made all the places and days felt like the most specials and importants in his life.
That night he must to make his best interpretation for don't let all the nerves dominate his mind, because it was so evident he was more nervous tan ever, and it took all his strength for not to think too loud in the surprise.
At 9 pm he was at the front door of the mansion with a bouquet of roses and the gift well hidden for the moment, trying to breathe properly before ring the doorbell. But it looks he was thinking too loud –or maybe it was just their mental conection– 'cause Charles opened the door before he could press the button of the doorbell.
The both of them smiled widely when they seen the outfit of the other; the same as their first date. Maybe it was coincidence or maybe not, but that simple thing was enough for make perfect the start of the anniversary.
–Happy anniversary, mein liebling. – Erik said at the time he took Charles in a thight embrance with his free arm, kissing him in the forhead. When they pull apart, Erik extended to him the bouquet of roses.
