The Birds

If I was a bird I'd fly away
Maybe then I'd be out of your way
Maybe I wouldn't be such a pain
Maybe I wouldn't have
This unforgiving stab wound

If I was a bird I'd be free in the sky
In the beautiful blue painting
With the wind in my feathers
Where the fluffy white clouds
Were my only companion

If I were a bird I'd fly high above the buildings
I'd chirp a sweet song
I'd land so gracefully

But I am not a bird
I am stuck on the ground
Surrounded by these vultures
That I once thought were so sweet
I never even knew
That they'd be eating me alive
