Dean and Cas are in an empty bar after a hunt and there's an dusty old grand piano in the corner. The instrument catches Dean's eye and he looks at Cas with a smirk, "I heard there was a secret chord that David played and it pleased the lord." He looked down, shaking his head with a chuckle before walking towards the piano, "But you don't really care for music, do you?" Dean sat down and played a simple chord, "It goes like this, the forth." He paused and shifted his hands, changing the chord, "The fifth." He repeated his actions once again, "The minor fall..." He played the minor chord softly, "The major lift." He played the major chord louder. "The baffled king composing Hallelujah." Dean stated, smiling up at Cas and dropping his hands in his lap, "Well? What do you think?"
"I didn't know you could play." Cas smiled at him in awe. He had never seen the hunter do something so beautifully and at such ease. "Yeah, well not many people do." Dean stated, "I usually only play when no one's around, something I only play when I'm alone."
"I think you should do it in public more often, you have a true talent that not many posses." Castiel went to sit next to Dean and looked at him lovingly. Dean shrugged and looked at Cas, "It's not really meant for other people. My mom and I shared it..." He paused and played the intro of the song, "So I guess it's only right to share it with you."
Cas smiled and scooted closer to Dean, "Now that I see it, you do sort of have pianist fingers." Dean glanced at Castiel with a smile before returning his gaze to the keys, he hummed softly while he played until he caught up to where he left off and he started singing quietly, "The baffled king composing hallelujah. Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah...."
Cas sighed, taking it all in. He hummed along and closed his eyes, letting the music move him as he gently swayed to the beat. He felt special since he had just learnt that the hunter thought he was worthy of such melody. As Dean grew more comfortable, he let his singing in playing grow in volume, allowing emotion to slip into it, making the music come to life. "Your faith was strong but you needed proof. You saw her bathing on the roof, her beauty and the moonlight overthrew you. She tied you to a kitchen chair, she broke your throne, she cut your hair and from your lips she drew the Hallelujah! Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah."
Castiel opened his eyes and looked at Dean, his music had captivated his entire being. He smiled and glanced over at the hunter, who he found absolutely mesmerising. Dean had been consumed by the music, fully engrossed in the melody, the whole world slipped away. All that seemed to exist was him, Castiel, and the music. "Maybe I've been here before. I know this room, I've walked this floor. I used to live alone before I knew you." Dean made eye contact while he sang to Castiel with a smile. His eyes returned to the keys, "I've seen your flag on the marble arch, Love is not a victory march! It's a cold and it's a broken hallelujah... Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah."
Castiel's eyes were watery, it was as if the hunter was truly speaking to him through the lyrics and he loved every part of it. He found himself unable to take his eyes off of Dean, but it was alright, he didn't wish to do so anyways. Dean played with such a passion, something that was rarely ever seen before, "There was a time you'd let me know, what's real and going on below. But now you never show it to me do you? And remember when I moved in you? The holy dark was moving too, and every breath we drew was Hallelujah!" Dean took a breath before he continued to sing, his fingers still played without missing a single beat, "Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah."
Castiel's heart was beating at a faster than ever before. He had decided in that precise moment that there was nothing in the world that he loved more than watching Dean play with such passion that even Mozart would become envious.
"Maybe there's a God above, and all I ever learnt from love. Was how to shoot at someone who out-drew you. It's not a cry you can hear at night, it's not somebody who's seen the light. It's a cold and its a broken Hallelujah!" There was a pause in his singing while he played, "Hallelujah, Hallelujah. Hallelujah, Hallelujah. Hallelujah, Hallelujah. Hallelujah, Hallelujah." Dean slowed to the end and stopped singing, playing the final few notes before striking the end chord. He held the keys, remaining perfectly still until the sound faded into silence. He lifted his hands from the keys, relaxing, it felt good to finally let his guard down and be emotional for once in his life. He turned to Cas to see the tears in his eyes, "Oh jeez, Cas, don't cry." He felt bad for bringing the angel tears and reached up to gently wipe away his tears. "I didn't mean to make you cry." His eyes looked worried and his hand remained, softly touching Castiel's face.
"They're happy tears, Dean." Cas pressed his hand on top of Dean's. He couldn't handle the beauty that was withheld by the green eyed man. "That was fascinating." Cas whispered, it only felt appropriate to do so. He didn't want to interrupt the comfortable silence that was around them. Dean felt his own tears of joy welling up inside him, he blinked them away, "Thanks, Cas." He whispered, his eyes had never shone so brightly before. He studied Castiel's eyes, they were his favourite colour in the whole world, you could never replicate that shade of blue. At this point, Dean could no longer control himself, he leaned forward and closed the small gap between them. He pressed his lips to Castiel's in a loving kiss.
Cas felt electricity move through their lips and towards his heart. His stomach felt as if it had just done a flip. He soon melted into the kiss and cupped Dean's cheek with his hand. There was nowhere he'd rather be than with his hunter, sitting on a piano bench and just kissing him tenderly.
