3: One Thing

"What?" I asked, confused. There was no way that Dean's brother was the King of Hell. That wasn't possible.

"Ever since he was six months old, he's been special, for lack of a better word. A demon, Azazel, came into his room and fed him blood. When he was 22, he began to have special powers. Another demon, Ruby, fed him her blood and he got control of his powers. She convinced him to take his rightful place as King of Hell." Dean explained. He looked so hurt and deflated that it took everything in me not to cry at the expressions on his face.

"Dean I.... If I'd have known, I'd never of pried." I told him sincerely.

"Lapis, it's not even that. Sam knows you exist, knows you mean something to me. He's found you, and that can only mean one thing." He said, looking to Cas.

Cas turned to me with a sigh escaping his lips. "It means he wants you dead."

"Why?" I furrowed my eyebrows. I did nothing to Sam. I've never met him. I've seen him once in real life, and even then I'm convinced that wasn't real.

"You're important​ to me. He'll do anything to take that away." Dean said, green eyes shining with tears.

"We'll do anything to stop him from getting you. I'll pull you out from hell if he does." Cas told me.

I furrowed my eyebrows. This was all so confusing and too much to handle. "Pull me from Hell?"

"I'm an Angel of the Lord. I've been assigned to protect Dean. Sam has a vendetta against his own brother. In turn, I have to protect those Dean cares for. For whatever reason, Sam is not interested in his parents or Caitlin. Just Dean, and now you."

Cas's confession on being an angel didn't shock me as much as the idea of Sam wanting to hurt his own blood, and in turn, me. It didn't sound right, but shit happened all the time like that.

Dean turned away, looking pained as he did so. "Maybe if you were no longer a part of my life, he wouldn't come after you."

"Dean, that's crazy! I don't care if I've got a target on my back from a gang or the King of Hell, or God himself. No one has made me feel as happy as you do and I'm not gonna leave because your estranged brother wants to be a big bag of dicks. I'm here to stay, Dean, unless you tell me otherwise."

My confession has shocked Dean. His eyes widened and he turned back to me. He shook his head and turned away again, just to turn back and grab my face. His lips touched mine and a realization me important than anything else from today filled my brain with truth.

I was in love with Dean Winchester and vice versa.

I stepped from the building in which I worked. Caitlin I both worked at a book store. It was something we both enjoyed. Sadly, she had a longer shift than I did, so I was leaving alone.

I stepped into the parking lot, keys ready to unlock my car. I stepped up to my car, sliding my bookbag down to the ground. It was so full of new books and notebooks that my arm was starting to hurt.

I felt a slight rumble beneath my feet and paused. It's funny how just a mere second can change one's life. A second too early and a driver could be in an accident. A second too late and someone could miss a tragedy. It's like those people during 9/11, some spent a second too long doing one task and lived.

The one second it took my to pause to decipher the rumbling was enough to set my life in motion forever, in a horrible way.

The ground shook further and I yelped, dropping my keys and gripping the handle of my car door. The earth opened up and I lost my grip, falling into a hole. I had never had​ a fear of holes until this moment.

I thought for sure I'd end up dead. In fact, I wish I had. Yet, I ended up with a far worse fate.

My screams echoed off the cavernous walls. I landed with a thud on a soft bed. Confused, I looked around and discovered I was in a room that was as red as blood, with hints of black thrown in the mix.

"Wow, I've never heard such an appatizing scream before." A chilling voice said from behind me. Goosebumps erupted on my skin and I began to shake like a fall leaf.

I screamed again.
