Eve Dale had never been more stressed about anything in her entire life. Today was officially the first day of Vidcon. She already had already had more than she could handle just in the set up of the place and that was before the doors opened and she was bombarded by questions from fans and unknowingly lost YouTubers. She was screwed, so to speak.
In the midst of the chaos of managers and the stars themselves running around grabbing props and calming nerves, Eve was there. A small, almost unnoticeable girl carrying a ton of boxes bigger than her herself. She was trying to get to the one and only Markiplier's panel to get everything set up for his meet and greet after. As much as she loved her job and getting to meet all these people who helped her unknowingly throughout the years, sometimes she felt she was underestimated. Always being pushed aside and given the most miniscule of tasks. Sure, she would take what she was given and be happy about it all the same, but sometimes she wished she could just get a little more recognition for the work she no doubt puts in.
While being so caught up in her thoughts of self doubt and the imbalance of power in the work industry, she was pushed aside, but more than literally this time. A man, or from what she could see, a very tall blob of pale skin and dusty silver hair, came crashing into her full speed. The first words leaving his mouth as he scrambled to get back up and lend a hand in helping her pick up all her scattered boxes was a muttered string of sorry on repeat and some of the most creative cuss words she had heard in awhile.
"Sorry! So sorry!! I was in a rush and I have no idea where I'm going, I swear I'm not usually like this," the tall blonde man rushed to say, rubbing the back of his neck nervously. Bouncing on the balls of his feet, it was obvious he was in a hurry, but so was everyone else. The man was British, that wasn't much of a surprise as he seemed very out of his element. Somehow, this, admittedly attractive, man seemed almost familiar to Eve. Then again, this was a YouTube convention, it was almost guaranteed that she'd probably seen his face around, these people being internet stars and all.
"No need to be sorry, we were both a little distracted! Thank you for the help picking this stuff back up though. My name's Eve. I help out around here," she replied quickly, trying to make up for the inconvenience. The man just smiled at her and ran his hands together almost absently.
"That's so cool!! My name is Simon. I'm one of the YouTubers here to do a panel today. Hope to see you around!" With that, he ran off in the opposite direction of Eve. She then scurried off quickly to make it over to the stage before the panel was to set to begin.
After she had gotten there, as she was unpacking the few things left in the boxes necessary for the meet and greet, she thought back on the encounter. Had she seen him before? She was sure she had, but where was he from again? He was, admittedly, quite good looking. He had gracefully long limbs and a mischievous smile, framed by dimples that made him seem almost child-like. Or maybe it was the slight flush in his cheeks at the mishap of running into someone that made him seem so cute. The encounter was unbelievably awkward, but she was sure if she knew of someone so remarkably handsome she wouldn't have forgotten him.
Her thoughts were cut off by a hand waving in front of her face. The hand itself belonged to none other than the Markiplier himself.
"Excuse me, you're helping out here, right? I'm sorry, I didn't catch your name before, but I was just wondering if you had any extra markers? I happened to have forgot mine and I really don't want to disappoint any fans." He smiled kindly and chuckled a little at his own forgetfulness.
She was slightly taken aback that such a large YouTuber would even talk to her, then she happened to remember what she was doing and kindly handed over the couple of sharpies she almost always had on her for mishaps like this (they seemed to happen often with YouTubers).
He took them gratefully and ran back to his booth. She stood there for a moment, then decidedly walked away to go find her manager. She needed her schedule for the next panel she was planned to be helping at that day. She was stopped a few times by coworkers or convention goers asking questions and she kept unconsciously looking around, almost hoping to see the fumbling man she had ran into (literally) earlier.
When she had finally found her manager, he rushed over, camera in hand, shoving it into her chest and telling her to head over to the gamer panels again. He told her that this time she gets to take all the pictures for the Sidemen meet up. At first she was excited, taking all the pictures was a big step up from handing out waters and giving all her sharpies to random YouTubers. Then she quickly realized how soon that would be and how far the gamer panels seemed and took off in the same direction she had come, trying to avoid getting sidetracked along the way.
She racked her brain. She had heard of the Sidemen. She realized she had watched a few of their GTA videos. There were a few names she could easily pinpoint in her mind; Ethan, Josh, Vikk, Harry, Jj, Tobi, Calfridge (or something like that), and there was one more person, she was sure of it. She kept searching all her memory for that name, but she just couldn't think of it.
Then she saw him, in all his dusty-silver haired, deep blue eyed, and dimple stamped glory. It was Simon. She smiled slightly and blushed remembering her thoughts from earlier, then kept rushing over to the booth to ready her camera for all the adoring fans who were getting ready to be let in. She took a deep breath and looked up to see Simon smile in her direction and look away to give the first of the fans a hug. She steadied her hand and lifted the camera saying "Smile!" The flash went off and almost instantly the girls behind her screamed louder and started flooding in.
