( Don't worry, this one is a happy one-shot

And yes it is Jervis Tetch ; "Mad Hatter" )

Arkham.

The place that held your beloved "Mad Hatter."

Jervis wasn't necessarily a bad man and your eyes, just confused is all.

Here you were, outside of Arkham, waiting for the gate to open themselves and reveal the horrible doors of the asylum.

You were escorted in by a guard, that said guard right outside the room, just in case anything happens.

Nothing will happen though,  you thought, Jervis would never hurt me... But, then again, look at what happened to Alice.

They bring in Jervis, sitting him down, in cuffs, across the table from you. Atop his head, a hat made of folded newspaper.

He smiles, "Ah! My lovely, _____! How has this frabjous day treated you thus far?"

You smile, always enjoying his rhyming ways.

"There's a darkness, that plays behind your wicked smile. Aching sadness," you look over your shoulder to see that the guard if the guard is looking - nope, he isn't.

You stand up, walking over to him and unlocking his restraints. You two instantly hugged each other.

You sighed, out of joy, "as you cradle me like I'm a child."

You look into his eyes, he, sending for peculiar glances back at you. "This is madness, we're descending into madness."

You released him, and he lets go of you, sitting back down, you wrap your arms around your torso.

"And it chills me to the Bone, even when you're gone, I'm not alone... I'm never alone."

His eyes widen, with what you think is worry.

" I'm searching, desperate for the fracture in your shell, with every passing day it gets harder to tell... where the demons stops and where you begin, but I promise you... This isn't How It Ends."

You stand up, heading for the door - but, you stop, mid-walk.

You couldn't leave him here. Not like this.

" I am frightened, as we tumble down the rabbit hole," he smiles, hearing a reference from his favorite book, "my grip tightens, I'm clinging to your missing soul."

Your knuckles grow white, "you can fight them [Jervis, the voices], together we can fight them." You turn back around, facing Jervis.

You stepped forward, looking to his eyes, your faces mere centimeters apart from each other.

" tell me that you're not too far gone, that I'm not a fool... for holding on." You plead, "I have to hold on."

You step back, "I'm searching, desperate for the fracture in your shell. With every passing day gets harder to tell where the demon stops and where you begin. But, I promise you, this isn't how it ends."

Your eyes water, coming to realization that Jervis will never be the same man he once was.

" and deep within your twisted truth you made yourself a home. But, it's a place where I can't follow you, don't leave me on my own." You Sniffled, " I can't do this on my own."

"_____, darling, what ever is the matt---?"

"[The matter, Hatter, is that] I'm searching, desperately for the fracture in your shell, with every passing day gets harder to tell... Where the demon stops and where you begin. But, I promise you, this isn't How It Ends."

He wraps his arms around you, from behind.

"____, I'm sorry if I've ever made you feel this way."

"Just... promise me one thing."

"Anything. "

"Come home to me. "

"Of course. "

Saying that, he pulls you in for a kiss.

Pft. And who are you to decline such an offer?
