Entry #1.
I was out playing by the playground as usual with the other kids. We were joking around, running up and down, the typical things you'll see. In the far left, there's an abandoned swingset. It's rickety and old; we dare each other to sit on it and see if it'll break or not. We always put it back together.
We were eyeing the swingset when I spotted a boy sitting on them. Just... sitting there. Strange thing was, the board didn't break or the rope didn't give way. How light was he?
"Hey guys, do you see that boy?" They were chatting, not paying any attention to me. I huffed, shrugging. Looking back to the swing, he quietly swung back and forth. I wanted to talk to him. I went over.
"Hi, what's your name?"
"Seto."
"I'm Brice." Seto turned to look at me, my brain trying to reel through the colors to find the perfect one to his eyes. Chocolatey, a hint of silver... "Seto suits you."
"Thanks, same to you." He looked at my hair. Oh dear god... it's gonna be my spiky, gravity-defying- "Your hairstyle is different from the others, I like it."
Seto was nice. He was pretty, even. He showed me some animals, for some reason he could get really close to them. I was sad when my parents called me over.
"When can we play again?"
"I'm always here, Brice." He smiled, I smiled back.
He wasn't there the next day. Or the next. Or the next.
Seto went missing after our first meeting.
"Honey, he probably had to move, or he's busy."
"But he was here! I remember him being here, he promised!" I searched all around the park, through the maze of tunnels and underneath all the equipment.
Seto wasn't there.
"Brice, maybe it was your imagination?"
"No, Seto was real! He had to be!" After who knows how long, I gave up searching. Sighing in defeat, I scrawled a note and stuck it on the swingset.
"Write your name if you see this -Brice"
Drawing a small picture of him, I brushed the dirt and dust off my pants.
"Brice, come on, lunch! We're getting ice-cream and pizza with your friends!"
We went out to eat, I tearing through three slices and two ice-cream-cones. Then I saw Seto again, looking a little sad as he was walking outside.
"Seto!" I ran over, telling my parents I was going outside. Stopping, I looked at him. "Where were you? I was searching everywhere!"
"Huh? Brice?" He scratched his neck, going to the back of the place. "I had to do something the past few days..."
"Oh, okay. Want some ice-cream?"
"What's ice-cream?" I widened my eyes, Seto looking at me confused. "What is it?"
"You don't know what ice-cream is." He nodded. "Wait here." I bought another one, a swirl of strawberry, chocolate, and vanilla. Coming back, I handed it to him. "It's the BEST. Lick it or take it by little bites-" Seto bit off a huge portion of the chocolate side. "H-Hey! Your teeth hurt when you do that!"
"Mine doesn't hurt." I watched him eat the ice-cream flawlessly. "Strawberry is my favorite, though it's okay..."
"Ever tried caramel?" He shook his head. I went through my bag, taking out a small, cube-sized piece of it. "It has magical properties, you know."
"Magical?" Seto flared up in flames, I flinching. "Oh, sorry." He smiled sheepishly. "I'm a sorcerer."
"That's so COOL! Anyway, the magical property is that it makes you happy when you're sad! You looked sad when I saw you, so here!" I grinned, Seto taking the small cube carefully.
"R-Really?"
"Try it!" He neatly unfolded the wrapper, popping it into his mouth. "How is it?"
"It's..." His face lit up, chewing and smiling happily. "It's really good!"
"Do you feel happy?"
"Yes!" I giggled, Seto laughing. His laugh was cute and soft.
"I gotta go now, Set."
"Awww... can I have one more piece of caramel? So I can remember you?" I blushed, handing him two.
"See ya!"
"Bye!" I went back into the pizza place.
"Brice, who were you talking to?"
"Huh?"
"You said Seto, then went outside, talked with yourself, then stood there." I widened my eyes.
"Y-You didn't see Seto?"
"Dude, you're gonna go crazy." They continued chatting, I sitting down. I went to the back, taking out the bag of caramel.
"Seto..." Counting the pieces, four were missing. Seto and I ate one, while I gave him two more. I went back. "Did I eat caramel at one point?"
"No, you just stood there like you were in a daze, staring at the ground." I glanced at the pieces.
"Seto has to be real..."
Who caught the Yugioh Zexal reference?
