Chapter 1

Dan's POV

"But why?", I said, knowing my parents could hear the sadness in my voice, "All my friends are here." 

My parents were telling me that we were moving to some small town in America called Beacon Hills, because my Dad was offered a better job over there. 

"We know Dan, but this is a great opportunity for all of us, besides it's only for a year." It didn't matter how long we were going for, I still didn't want to go, things were finally getting good for me. I had friends, a girlfriend, and he even pushed me to create my youtube account, which was actually doing really well,and we made videos together all the time because he had a channel too, and life was really great, and that was all thanks to Phil. 

We had met at the start of the year, because he had just moved here, and we had instantly hit it off. I didn't really have any friends and it felt good to know that somebody actually liked me and wanted to be my friend. He introduced me to all my current friends as well, like PJ and Chris, and he had also pushed me to ask out my girlfriend Rebecca. How could I leave all that behind? 

"We do have an option that might make you feel slightly better about this whole situation", my mum said. How could anything make this better. "We are letting you bring one friend to stay with us in America, for as long as you want." My mind automatically thought of Phil. I knew I would need him if I had any hope of making new friends. 

"Can I bring Phil?", I asked hopefully. "Of course! I'll ring Mrs Lester now and see what she says". My mum ran into the sitting room to call her. I really hoped she would say yes, Phil would make this whole situation a lot better.

Phil's POV

"Phil, come down here please", I heard my mum shout from downstairs. "Coming!!", I shouted right back. I wondered what she wanted and ran down the stairs. When I got to the kitchen Mum had the phone to her ear, so she was obviously talking to someone. 

"Oh Phil here you are, Mrs Howell is on the phone and she has a proposition for you." "What is it?", I asked curiously, not knowing what I was about to hear. "The Howell's are moving to America for a year and they would like you to come along for a while." 

"Wow", I thought to myself, I really wasn't expecting that. "How long would I be going for?, I asked my mum. "She says as long as you want, and they would enroll you in the local high school with Dan while you were there so you could continue your education." "Where are they moving to?" "A small town called Beacon Hills in California." 

I didn't know what to say, it was a pretty big decision to make. "Can I think about it?", I said to my mum, not sure how to deal with the situation, "Of course you can honey", she exclaimed, "But I think Dan wants to talk to you first". 

She handed me the phone and I put it up to my ear. "Hello?" "PLEASE COME PHIL PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE!!" I heard Dan shout from the other end. "Hey Dan, how are you?", I said sarcastically. "Please come Phil, it would be really good if you came! We're leaving in August, so it's just before the school year starts there, and we'll be Juniors in the local high school!" he said, sounding genuinely excited. "I don't know", I said, "It's a pretty big decision to make on such short notice, I mean it's moving to America!"  

"You don't have to come for the whole time you know, even if you just came for a few weeks it would really help me a lot, you know how hard it is for me in these kind of situations." There was a twinge of sadness in his voice, and I knew I couldn't say no to him.

"Ok fine, i'll come with you" I said, knowing that I didn't really have a choice in the matter. "THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!" Dan shouted down the phone, "WE'LL HAVE AN AMAZING TIME!! I'll come over tomorrow and give you all the details, ok?" "Ok", I said, "I'll see you then, bye" and then I hung up the phone.

"America", I thought, "Wow, this should be interesting".
