Mom had bought three front row tickets to the Led Zeppelin concert, one for me, one for Jess and one for Alex. I was the happiest of all of them. For I was to see my idols in their fiery, rage full version. Adding emotion to every note of their song. I beamed with happiness all day.
I discussed my plans on probably trying to nab an autograph or two from the members with Jess and Alex. They laughed it off - as expected. But I was dead serious, My idols were coming to New York City for the first time and I had to somehow try and secure a good memory forever in my heart. My mum bought me a floral strapless sundress to wear to the concert. One thing I wasn't keen on was looking good. I least cared about myself - rather tried to enjoy the moment and take everything in with each detail etched in my mind. " You'll look beautiful honey! It'll perfectly go with your beautiful brown wavy hair." Said Mom in context to the dress. "Beautiful brown hair where mum?, it's so normal. I'm so normal, every other girl is better looking than me.". Mom frowned and came forward and gently caressed my hair and whispered "Baby you're beautiful and I know it. If you keep being so uncomfortable about yourself, you'll never be happy. Your beauty is unparalleled. Don't worry, there'll soon be a boy to tell you that and you'll believe him willingly." Mum winked while I gave an eye roll with disgust. Which boy was to fall for me? Certainly not the good looking ones I yearned for. Soon the day came. 31st August 1969. Led Zeppelin was performing in LA for the first time, and my happiness knew no bounds. Alex came home at about 5 pm with his car parked outside and comfortably sat in the living room waiting for me and Jess to get ready. Mom helped me put some makeup on. While I lazily put my hair in an effortless bun. And then I got the glare from Jess telling me to change my hairstyle. "We're going to see Led freaking Zeppelin and Miss Flynn has no efforts on looking good. Think of all the good looking guys you could score on Jade!" Jess beamed with a gleam in her eye. "All the guys will be behind you, so why should I bother?" I joked. Even on my resisting, Jess redid my hair into two French braids and I must admit, it really suited me. After getting ready I glanced at myself in a mirror. Brown hair tied in French braids with a floral sundress along with some brown strap flats and a brown tassel shoulder bag. I looked decent for once. Jess, who was wearing a maroon sundress with her blonde hair left open to it's full majesty looked at me and squeezed my arm and said "If you catch the attention of a guy, it's going to be all because of me, I mean of course you would! You look so pretty." I blushed and gave her a tight hug. What would I do without her?. We walked down the steps, with anticipation for Alex's reaction on our looks, which were of course positive. "You guys look amazing!, A change for once eh Miss Flynn?" I blushed and nudged him with my elbow. "You children might want to get going now, you don't want to be late for the concert." Said mom as she emerged from the kitchen with a big smile and a satisfying nod after looking at me. "Bye Mum, We'll be back soon." I said after Jess adding "After having the time of our lives!". Mum smiled and waved goodbye as we sat in Alex's car to make our way to the concert. I was in a flurry of emotions.
