The clouds drag each other along the skyline, pulling each other to an inevitable nowhere. No destination. No point. The glass is shrouded in a blanket of condensation, quickly becoming so thick that water drops down into my windowsill. I sit. Watching. I've tried to punch through the glass. It will never work. Isn't it pointless? This empty shell of supposed life? Hardly a life. Metal clanging reverberates around the steel room as the door swings open. A white coated man walks in, a needle in his hand, sloshing with a light blue, unnatural liquid. From behind him, two men and one woman rush in, guns firmly gripped in their hands. A stretcher finally wheels in and my hands clench. I'm not going without a fight. The guns raise up as they proceed to me, just before they get too close. I raise my hands, heat flaring from them. A long, strong flame shoots from my hand setting the first one on fire, that's when their fingers tense on the triggers. The Man I burnt rolls about on the ground, trying to get rid of the fire. My fire doesn't work like that. I choose when it stops. I leave him. It's not like I've never killed anyone. I turn and face the doctor. I hate him. I hate all of them. My hand reaches out for his face as he is frozen in fear. The flames burn at his face down to the bone.
He screams.
I smile.
An ache forms in my shoulder blade and I reach back to discover the cause of the pain. My hand finds metal. I feel the liquid burning into my veins. I scream, my whole body setting on fire. The world begins to ebb away into an eternal darkness. My body shakes as my eyes wrench themselves open. A sheen of sweat engulfs my face. My hands are tied to a stretcher, as are my legs. Faces either side of me are unemotional.
"Let me free!" I scream.
Silence.
I struggle in my bindings, my hands flaming. My body convulses and I throw up with fear. What will they do to me? What have they done to me?
I scream. An ear splitting, sound ripping scream. The faces continue to be non submissive.
