                   -Shot in the dark idea-

The toilet bowl was slowly becoming your new best friend. You've been up since 3AM puking your guts out into it. The stench that filled your nostrils afterwards was almost enough to make you vomit again. Your throat was sore from the stomach acid that layered it, but that didn't stop you from calling out to Jonathan. "Jon!!" He was quick to react by entering the bathroom seconds later with a mask covering his nose and a glass of water in his hand. You could see the concern hidden in his eyes as you took the glass and sipped at the liquid. He stood there for a few more seconds before you watched his eyebrows scrunch together. "Don't you think it's time we take you to the doctor yet?" He asked carefully. He knew you hated the doctor, but he couldn't stand seeing you like this. . . Plus, he had a creeping suspicion that this wasn't just the flu.

"No." You said weakly. "I don't really feel like being poked with needles."

"But," Jonathan started. "What if this is something bigger than the flu? What if — what if you're pregnant?" He asked while referring to just last week when the two of you decided to mess around in the sheets. You shook your head. "There's no way."

"It's still a possibility. . . So, please?" He begged. "For me?"

You locked eyes with him, all the while thinking about the possibility of you. . . having a kid. A doctor giving you the news is better than a stick, so why not? You attempted pushing yourself off of the ground and ended up wobbling on your own two legs. You leaned on Jonathan for support as you started down the stairs. "Hey." Luke said from the living room. "Where are you guys going?"

"Doctors." Jonathan shrugged and gave Luke a look only he would understand. "I don't know when we will be back." Luke hummed in response, eyeing his best friend carefully as they passed trough the kitchen and into the garage. He too couldn't keep that nagging thought out of the back of his head.

The annoying white paper beneath you was starting to really piss you off. Every time you'd move, the paper would make an unsatisfying crinkling sound. But no matter how annoying that was, it wouldn't distract your worried, wondering mind. You unknowingly had your lower lip between your teeth and you were picking at your cuticles as your nerves slowly started eating you alive. The doctor said that he'd be back with results in twenty minutes. . It's been twenty five. You felt Jonathan's heavy hand grab yours and you looked down at him before interlocking your fingers with his. "Hey. . Calm down." He said quietly. "Whats the worst that could happen?"

You looked away, feeling your eyes water at the thought of having a baby. You were scared. "I don't know, Jonathan. Maybe nine months from now we'll have a kid? Honestly, that wasn't on my list of to-do's for a while. ."

"Well, it wasn't on mine either." Jonathan admitted. "But so what? If you're pregnant, then you're pregnant. Okay? So quit worrying that mind of yours and just calm down."

You nodded quickly with some of your hair falling into your face.

A quick knock on the door caught both of your guys' attention. Your heart was pounding in your chest and you could feel it in your throat. The whole situation was extremely nerve-racking. "(Y/N)," Dr. Jones paused as he walked into the room. He looked at you before continuing. "The test came back positive. You're pregnant."

You didn't have any time to respond. Didn't have any time to let your heart stop pounding, because Jonathan was already up and standing with your hand in his. "I knew it!" He yelled.

You squeezed Jonathan's fingers and found your voice. "I just— wow."

You took a deep breath and let your other hand slide over your stomach, the stomach that was sheltering yours and Jonathan's child. It was probably smaller than a peanut, but it was there. Growing. Living.

You chewed at your bottom lip for a moment then looked at Jonathan by your side. You broke into a smile and almost cried. "We've got a whole new life ahead of us. ."

"I have a list of things, on this paper, that you shouldn't eat. They're not very healthy for the baby." Dr. Jones said as he handed you a small piece of paper. "And please, don't hesitate to call if you have any questions. If you want, we can schedule you an appointment for an ultrasound?"

Your eyes locked with Jonathan's as you nodded your head. "Yes, that would be great!"

"Alright." Dr. Jones hummed as he looked at the clipboard in his hand. "How does Friday on the thirteenth sound?"

"It sounds amazing." You smiled.

"Okay, it's done." He said as he stuck his hand out to shake yours and Jonathan's. "I'll see you on the thirteenth. I hope you two have a good rest of your day."

"Thank you, you too." Jonathan said as he practically pulled you out of the room and the hospital all together. You were buckling yourself in when you noticed how Jonathan looked like he was about to cry.

"Hey. . Are you okay?" You touched his shoulder lightly.

"I— yeah." He clenched his jaw. "I'm just worried."

"About the baby?" You tugged on the seatbelt feeling guilty for getting knocked up. "Because you're not the only one. . I'm scared outta my mind."

"Yeah. It all feels surreal." He said as he started the engine. He wiped at his eyes and smiled before chuckling lightly.

"What?" You smiled crookedly.

"Nothing— we're going to have one kick-ass kid. ."

-----

Luke was one of the first people to know. He jumped up from the couch and hugged Jonathan and then you after hearing the news. "That's fucking amazing." He grinned. "Congratulations."

Next were a few others of Jonathan's friends. He invited all of them into a group chat, except for Evan, because well. . Things weren't exactly 'okay' between them. He told them all at once, getting a load of messages that he could barely keep up with. Mini's text had both you and Jonathan laughing. "I'm gonna be an uncle!"

"Fuck you Mini! We're all gonna be uncles!" Tyler said.

And that's how most of the texts went from there on out, with the guys arguing over who was going to be the best unrelated uncle.

You knew you should probably tell Evan. . . But you felt like right now wasn't the right moment. Your brother was still pissed that you were dating Jonathan in the first place, you were pretty sure he wouldn't have been to happy to hear that Jonathan ended up getting you pregnant. .

-----

A few more weeks passed and you and Jonathan were back in the hospital for your first ultrasound. You had your shirt pulled over your stomach with this weird gel spread all over it. Dr. Jones stood over you with the ultrasound camera in his hand as he looked around your stomach the baby. "Ah, there it is." He pointed your baby out on the black and white screen. He turned the sound on and that's when you could hear it's heartbeat. When your eyes started water. When you realized that this was actually happening.

You smiled into your hand as your tears started to flow freely from your eyes. "God— sorry. I'm getting all emotional. It's just. . . That's our kid, Jon!"

Jonathan grabbed your hand and smiled widely. "I know. I can't believe it."

"I hope we have (girl/boy)." You said, feeling your heart in your throat. This was all really overwhelming and for once you were actually excited about having this kid.

"I don't care what gender it is." Jonathan choked. "God it's so small. ."

Dr. Jones audibly chuckled. "Wonderful, isn't it?"
