A small Elvis bobble head was bouncing on Dean's dashboard as he sped through a scenic road. Cas was looking at the road behind them in disbelief.
"Man, Adam Milligan is messed up. And dangerous... This day never ends..." Cas sighed as he slumped into the seat.
Dean glanced at Cas, then back at the road."Oh and thanks, Dean!" Dean shakes his head. "After five years you're still Cas Novak."
Cas shifts uncomfortably in his seat and looks down at his lap. Dean notices.
"Don't give me the guilty face. At least pretend you're glad to see me." Dean gives Cas a smile.
"I am seriously glad to see you." Cas nodded. "Oh, and thanks, Dean. It makes perfect sense I'd see you today."
"Yes, it's been that kind of day. So what did that freak want with you?"
"Hopefully nothing after today. So, how do you know Adam?" Cas hoped Dean might say something related to the bathroom indecent.
"He's just another Arcadia asshole... Your friend really took a beatdown for you."
"Gabe? Yeah, I owe him big time." Cas felt a bit bad leaving Gabe behind.
"You're not the only one in debt, and you're already causing trouble."
"I thought it would be quiet here. Feels so weird to be back."
"So I guess Seattle sucked hard?" Dean smirked.
"No, it felt like a real city for artists, big and bright. Great for taking pictures."
"Yeah, must be hard coming back to a hick town like Arcadia again..."
"Not after seeing you." Cas smiled.
"Please, dude. You came back for Blackwell Academy."
"Only for Chuck Shurley. He was a pretty famous photographer in the 90s... I've always loved his work."
"Those who can't do, teach." Dean teased. "I'm glad you found a good reason to come back."
"Don't yo think I'm happy to see you?" Cas was starting to get a bit angry with Dean.
But Dean was angry too. "No. You were happy to wait five years without a call, or even a text."
"I wanted to. I was just so tripped out over leaving Arcadia..." Cas felt guilty again.
"Oh, please. I'm sure your phone and laptop were frozen in time."
"You're merciless."
"You've been at Blackwell for almost a month without letting me know. 'Nuff said."
"I just wanted to settle in first and not be such a shy cliché geek. I totally would have contacted you..." Cas tried his best to find a good excuse, but no excuse was good enough.
"I bet you don't you these excuses on Mr. Shurley... Don't use them on me, Cas."
Cas fell back into his seat. The sad thing about what Dean said is that he does use pathetic excuses like that with Mr. Shurley.
They drove in a bit of an awkward silence, but Cas was still happy that he found Dean.
Cas reached down into his bag and took out his camera. He examined the broken pieces and winced at the damage.
"Broken. Oh man, are you cereal?" Cas whispered.
"Wow, haven't heard that one in a while..." Dean looked over as the camera for a split second.
