Radar and Luna found themselves in a Desert Dimension. It was an empty world that awaited colonization. But because few people traveled across universes, it stayed undiscovered.
Blue, green, red, and orange colors swirled in the sky while two suns glowed behind it.
"What is that?" Luna pointed at a warehouse after she stopped puking.
It should not be here. Radar smiled. "Our destination."
There were no roads, but tire tracks covered the ground. Radar knew the breachers were in the warehouse. He felt it in his gut. But what he didn't know was what awaited him there.
Did the three plant traps for him and Luna?
Radar glanced at the duster. She breathed heavily while her body adjusted to the dimension's frequency. She can protect herself if we get trapped.
Even if he wanted to protect Luna, Radar knew he would hold her back. In the short time they had spent together, he realized she was a better warrior and survivor than him.
Radar adjusted his injured arm on the sling. It would take time to heal—time he didn't have. It was the reason he didn't want to confront the breachers in the restaurant. The compact space would have made it hard for him to fight them with one arm.
But the Desert Dimension was the perfect place for a fight. He wouldn't have to worry about casualties.
"Come on," Radar said, then opened a portal.
They entered and appeared at the warehouse's entrance. It looked brand new. The silver steels roof glowed under the sun's rays, and the white walls looked bright. They entered and came across corpses hanging on hooks attached to the ceiling. The corpses didn't have skin, and their guts hung out of their bodies like ropes.
Radar felt uncomfortable at what he saw. Not only did the corpses not have skin, but their necks, ankles, and wrists had been slit. A large metal bucket full of red liquid stood below each corpse. They bring the slaves here to butcher them. But what are they doing with their skin and blood?
"You're finally here. I got tired of waiting," someone said from behind them. Radar and Luna turned and saw Kruger. There was no sign of Los or Octavia. "You must be Radar," he said, and then turned to Luna. "I haven't seen a duster in so long. Where have you and your kind been hiding?"
Luna didn't respond.
Kruger spread his arms and closed his eyes. "Come on, manipulate my feelings."
Luna stood still.
Radar didn't know if she was trying to manipulate Kruger's feelings or not. But she was glaring at Kruger with clenched hands.
Kruger opened his eyes. "You can't manipulate my feelings, duster. I used to hunt your kind. Your kind taught me different ways to avoid your abilities. You can smell them on me, can't you? That's why you're angry. You know I used to hunt them." He grinned. "But freedom is not my forte."
He is stalling us. But why? Radar thought, then gazed at Luna. "Jasmine and Amina are somewhere in here. Go find them. I will deal with him." He handed her his flintlock.
Luna took it from him. She seemed to be in two minds. Then, after a few seconds, she gripped the flintlock and ran off.
"One on one, huh?" Kruger scoffed. He took a few steps forward. He looked way older up close. Wrinkles covered his face, while crow's feet and dark bags surrounded his eyes. He looked like a corpse. Kruger removed his long coat and cowboy hat and threw them to the ground. "You're a brave man, Radar. Brave, but stupid. With your portal abilities, you could have been rich beyond your wildest dreams. Instead, you found people as a career?" He shook his head and tsked.
