"Carter Malcolm, will you do me the honor of going out to dinner with me tonight?" David, my boyfriend of seven years, asks, holding my hands and staring in my eyes.
"It'd be my honor," I giggle and he kisses my nose.
"I love it when you laugh," he says leaning in and pecking me on the lips, leaving my lips wanting more. "But I mustn't keep you're boss awaiting. Off you go," he says waving my off as I step out the door.
After I just finished attending my fourth year of college, my job search had not gone anyone where, so I continued working in a little café two blocks away. Ally was the owner, which explains the name, Ally's. She was my best friend along with Carli who worked with me.
I rush past the window about to be late, with the familiar ring of the bell as I swiftly push open the door.
"Well look who the cat dragged in," Carli says, smiling while filling up a coffee cup.
"Who's that for?" I ask, directing toward the cup while tying the waistband of my apron.
"The guy in the corner, he's kinda hot isn't he?" She says directing her head toward him, as he types quickly on his phone while tugging his hair. "Here go give this to him," she passes me the coffee and I roll my eyes at her.
"I'm still dating David if that's what you're directing too," I grin at her while grabbing a few napkins.
"Who says you can't make friends?" I roll my eyes at her, walking out from behind the counter.
"Here's your coffee, sir," I put the coffee down on top of the napkins as he still types on his phone looking aggravated.
"Thanks..." He mumbles. He glances at me than stops typing for a minute. "Can you sit down for a minute. I really need a girls advice," he says, placing his phone down and staring up at me.
I look back at Carli an she raises an eyebrow at me mouthing me to sit down. I plop down resting my head on my hand.
"Okay, so, I've been dating this girl for five years and she doesn't seem to interested in me anymore. And I fell so hard. But I think she's standing back up without me. And I've been typing a whole paragraph on what I think but now I'm debating on weather or not to send it." He passes me his phone with a text message not yet sent. I start reading.
I've been thinking about us and I'm confused. You say you love me but you don't mean it. You say you'll always be there for me but in reality you're always gone and I don't know what you're doing. But maybe I should be asking my self what I'm doing. Maybe I am not caring enough. Ive been doing everything wrong with my life so how couldn't I mess whatever this is up. Sometimes I think I should delete all these messages and block your contact than move on but I can't stop thinking about you. And us. But if I can't trust you than why continue with this relationship. I love you and I'm sorry. I don't know what to do or how to feel.
For now,
Jack.
Wow. He just let me read his hearts.
"A lot to take in, huh?" He lets out a nervous laugh.
"What's a relationship with secrets?" I ask. I hit send and pass the phone back.  "She'll understand and if she doesn't she's dumb for not wanting to work it out. How could someone not like you?" I say looking him up and down.
"Oh," he smirks than winks.  I get up and shake my head walking away and he stares at his phone. How could someone not like him?

I have one hour until dinner. David told me to be ready at 5:30, an early time for when we usually eat. I don't know how I'm supposed to dress. Casual. Fancy. Partying. I should text David asking him if I should dress casual. He said dress whatever you're comfortable in. I throw on some shorts with sunflowers and a big white t-shirt. Comfy and casual. I finish doing my makeup and hair as the door creeks open. David pops his head in, "Ready?"
I nod, rubbing in my lip gloss and sliding in flats.
"Okay so this may sound weird, but can I blindfold you?" he asks, holding up a sleeping mask.
I shift my eyebrows up but shrug. He places the mask on my face then grabs my hand and drags me to the car. We drive for 30 minutes, singing and laughing along the way. The car comes to a stop and my car door opens shortly after his shuts. He pulls me to the outdoors and lets me stand.
"Take off your blindfold," he demands. I reach to take it off. My eyes are astonished by the setup. A beautiful pond with a blanket, picnic basket, candles, and nature. I run over to him, jumping in his arms and he spins me.
"I love you and this," he sets me down and I look with wide eyes.
"The night has just begun," he winks and drags me to the cloth.

After dinner David shows me trails leading me to the lake. We watch the sunset and a sky full of stars enlopes us.
"One more thing," he says getting off the bench. I follow him along the pebbled trail until we end up on the beach. The water glistens and my heart races. This is gorgeous. I sit on a rock. David taps on my shoulder. I turn around and see him on one knee with a jewelry box in hand. I stare at him in awe.
"Carter Malcolm, will you marry me?"
"David I...." The words won't spill. But I didn't even know what the words were going to be.
