Darkness on a wet and cold night,
That’s what I remember the most.
There was barely any light,
Like a town where everyone’s a ghost.
The only light the eye could see
Was the silver beaming moon,
Big and bright the moon will be
At midnight, where the faint sound of a coon
Will screech and chipper and run in panic
As the man in the moon bears a sly grin
And he laughs, loud and volcanic,
I shrunk and hid deep in my shaking skin.
“Do not worry”, he said to me, “Do not shed a tear.
You must learn your path of life, as it is your only fear.”
