the cool night breeze whipped around skye, slashing her delicate skin roughly. her hands fumbled to wrap her cardigan around her tighter as a sigh escaped her moist lips. after a hearty supper, she hoped that the boy would have left, leaving the lake hers once again.

to her relief, when she reached the sandy lake shore, no one seemed to be on her property. she seated herself on the dock, her legs dangling a few inches above the lake water. skye unlocked her phone and put on some soft music to set the mood of the calm night. small droplets of water began drifting from the sky, the sound of water dipping adding effect to the music.

she closed her eyes slightly, leaning back a little bit.

"hello."

the sudden shock made her phone slip out of her grasp and fall into the lake with a clunk.

"that's the fucking cherry on top of the ice cream. first, you invade my property and now you make me drop my phone. i hope you know you'll be paying for that."

"calm down. just soak the phone in rice, and it'll be good as new. i wasn't aware this lake was private property," he continued, pointing at the sign that read public.

she grunted loudly, getting up to retrieve her phone before ripping the public sign from the pole it was attached to. the mysterious boy chuckled to himself. it appeared that he was amused at her anger.

"i'm louis, by the way."

"i didn't ask you who you were."

"but i told you nonetheless."

"i could care less."

a smile small was plastered on the boy's face, clearly amused with everything the girl had to offer. the more he smiled, the more she became flustered.

how dare he invade her property, make her drop her phone, and find it amusing?

"it's still public."

annoyed with his remarks, the girl sat down on a bench, ignoring the invader. it seemed as if he was not leaving, and she was not about to be the one to leave again.
