*Liam's POV*

This strange German woman had been taking care of me for a week about now. I didn't know a thing about her, other than that she did not seem to care that I was British, and that she was very good at taking care of wounds. Perhaps she was a nurse.

She did look a little bit older than my mother. Maybe she'd once had a son, but he had died, and she saw me as one now. Though it would be strange, it was possible.

She brought me a bowl of some sort of soup. As I did not want to offend her, I took it and gratefully ate it.

I heard the voice of a young woman call though the house. Her daughter, maybe?

She called to her and the young woman entered the room.

To say that the younger woman was not shocked by seeing me would be an understatement.

The two went into the hallway and I could hear them speaking rapid, sometimes angry, German.

The younger woman returned and looked at me with a skeptical look on her face.

"Are you British?" she asked, her German accent was very heavy.

"Yes." I told her.

"I knew mother would do something like this! After Friedrich was killed, she has been missing him. She must see you as her son, my brother. I do know that she  can tell that yu are the enemy. Not that she will ever care. She can tell that you are kind, not evil as we are told that you British are."

"Are you going to turn me in?"

"No. I am not that heartless. I know that you're a person, too. I have also spent some tme studying in London. So, I have firsthand accounts of what British people are like. They are a good people, and are proud of their heritage as we Germans are of ours. It is also how I know English.

I couldn't say anything.

"How did you wind up here?"

"My plane was shot down by the Red Baron. I knew it was him the second I saw his plane. I m very lucky to be alive." I realized something important them. "Does your mother have any paper and pencils or pens?"

"Yes, I can get you some."

"Thank you."

She left and returned with a stack of paper and a pen.

I gave her a smile and she left.

I knew I needed to write to my family and Elizabeth.

*Elizabeth's POV*

I received a letter today. It was from somewhere in Germany. It could be from Liam!

I opened it and almost started crying when I saw his handwriting.

Dear Elizabeth,

I am still alive. I had to write you just so that you would know that I am not dead. I am alive. You may have been informed that my plane was shot down, but I miraculously survived the crash. I do not know how I survived, but I did. Every day that passes, I am thankful that I am still alive. I did think that I was going to die and never see you again. But I will hopefully get to.

I am currently being cared for by a German woman who found me, and her daughter. It is most fortunate that her daughter knows English. She is actually teaching me German, so that when she has to leave, I can communicate with her mother. When I was found, I was sure that I was going to be killed. I have been very lucky during this war. I do not know when I'll see you next, but I do hope that it is soon. I will be writing Charlotte very soon for her birthday, that will make everyone happy. Myself included. Hopefully, I will, somehow, be able to return to base soon. As I cannot return home, my one wish is to return to the skies. The skies are so peaceful.

I love you much.

Yours Truly,

Liam

I realized that I was crying even harder than I was before. I wanted Liam home so badly. There was nothing I wanted more than that.

AN

Yes, it's short. I know it is. I'm realizing that most of them are a lot shorter than I thought they were. My bad. Believe me, I hate me as much as you hate me on that fact. I'm sorry.

Anyhow! I'm super excited for Thursday to come! Why? Because it's my birthday! I'll be 18. No big deal or anything.

I wish the snow would disappear and just stay disappeared. I wanna wear shorts and tank-tops and sandals!

So, yeah!

Love you my petite croissants!
