The dream happened again. This time James had a gun. I went to go look when I heard the shot. It ended with him shooting me, too, saying the iconic serial killer line "if I can't have you, no one can."

I woke up in the same fashion as last time, panicked and scared. I couldn't catch my breath. I started sobbing as I struggled to calm down. I scramble to the edge of the bed to see Dylan stirring in his sleep.

He tosses and turns, mumbling small inaudible things. I reach off the bed, gently shaking him. He gasps as he wakes, his eyes shooting open. He sits up quick and scrambles back from me a bit. It takes him a second to regain awareness before looking toward me.

"What's wrong, Rach?"

"I-I had the dream again. But, worse this time..." I mumble. He sighs and climbs onto my bed, hugging me tight.

"We're okay, Rachel... James isn't gonna get away with anything..." he whispers, trying to calm me. Thinking of James and the whole situation just made me cry harder.

"What if they don't put him in jail?!" I sob into him. "What if the only thing they do to protect me is some piece of paper hoping he'll follow the rules?!"

"Hey, there are harsh punishments for these things, Rach..." he says. "He hurt you so many times... they'll keep him away, I promise..."

I curled into him as I let my tears fall. He scoots back on the bed, sitting to lean against my headboard as he held me. He pulls the blankets up to my shoulders and hugs me as I cry, letting everything out. Everything built up from so long just flowed out of my body.

"Try and get some more sleep, Rachel..." he coos as he gently scratches my back. I lean against him, slightly sitting up to lay my head on his chest as I softly cried myself back to sleep.

Amazingly, I didn't have the dream again. I woke up feeling a lot better, and decently rested. As my eyes fluttered open, I took in my surroundings. I was still laying on Dylan, his arm wrapped around my waist.

"Morning..." he mumbles in a slightly tired voice. I smile and pull away from him.

"Morning," I say back, before stretching. He smiles at me.

"How'd you sleep?" He asks.

"Didn't have the dream again, so that's good..." I say with a smile. "What was your dream about last night? You freaked when I woke you up..."

"Oh it's fine," He assures me.

"Tell me, Dyl...!"

"Rachel, I don't really wanna talk about it..."

"Alright..." I sigh. "How long have you been up?"

"Not too long, just since you woke me..."

"Dylan! Why didn't you try and sleep again?"

"I saw how freaked you were. I wanted to be awake if you had the dream again. And I got 6 hours anyway,"

"Dyl..."

"I'm fine. Let's get something to eat, okay?"

I sigh and nod, climbing out of bed. We make eggs and sit down on the couch to watch some TV.
