The dining room was completely silent, despite the sounds of silverware clinking against the china and the sound of food being chewed, no one was speaking at all.

There was a thick tension that was suffocating the room between Louis and Robin, and Harry didn't understand what was going on. He continuously glanced over at his mother to see if she was picking up on any of the tension that was so apparently obvious, but she looked perfectly content sipping her glass of wine and busying herself with dinner. Harry, on the other hand, couldn't touch his food. He was too focused on Louis, who had a tensed body and knuckles turning white from how hard he was clenching the fork in his hand. Louis never once took his eyes off of Robin, his lips set in a fine line and his chest puffing out in heavy breaths. He looked mere seconds from reaching over the table to attack Robin, and Harry wanted to make sure that he stayed alert in hopes he could prevent anything crazy from happening in front of his mother.

Robin was sitting next to Anne, so any kind of glaring he did towards Harry and Louis went unnoticed by her. Harry felt uncomfortable enough with how angry and stressed Louis seemed to be with Robin in the room, but then he had to deal with Robin constantly staring at him as well as if he was studying Harry carefully. It made Harry twitch in his spot and divert his eyes down to his plate full of food, really wishing the person sitting across from him would ease up so Louis could ease up as well.

"So, Louis," Anne finally spoke in the midst of the silence. She set her glass of wine on the table and turned to look at Louis the same time Louis and Robin flinch at the suddenness of her voice. She didn't notice, just offered the boy a smile. "How do you know Harry?" she questioned curiously.

Louis' fingers eased from where they were wrapped around the fork and finally loosened some of the muscles in his body. Harry could see him starting to slowly relax now that his attention was focused on Anne, so he decided to place his hand on Louis' thigh to give him some more comfort. Louis' lips quirked up and he maneuvered one hand under the table to catch Harry's hand on his thigh, lacing their fingers together and resting them heavily on his lap.

Robin grunted.

"I met him a couple months ago," Louis replied with a smile, trying hard to focus on Anne rather than the brute of a man next to her that let out a snort at the comment. Louis' quickly flashed his eyes at Robin and glared at him briefly before he looked over at Anne again.

"He's actually my uh - he's my boyfriend," Harry then admitted confidently, biting on his lip when he noticed the smile that started to form on his mother's face

However, when Harry turned to glance at Louis for confirmation, Louis' eyes were suddenly widen in fear. He quickly retracted his hand from Harry's and placed them both on the table as if he was showing everyone he wasn't just touching Harry. Harry could see Louis start to tense up again and nervously gulp instead of actually agreeing that they were together. Harry frowned, this was what he thought Louis wanted. This was what he thought the whole point of introducing Louis to his mother was for.

"Boyfriend?" Robin grunted out loudly, slamming his fork down on the table, causing Harry and Anne to jump at the sound.

Harry looked at Louis questionably before he was glancing at Robin, swallowing down the sudden nerves he felt rising when Robin's face scrunched in anger. "Yes," Harry confirmed breathlessly.

Robin raised his eyebrow as he turned to look at Louis, giving him a testing look as if he was daring for him to agree with Harry. It left an unsettling feeling deep in the pit of Harry's stomach, and his discomfort continued to grow the more Louis and Robin acted as if they were ready to fight each other. Harry really didn't know what was going on or who the hell Robin was, but there was a sort of apparent feud going on between him and Louis, and it left Harry's mind to wonder what else he was being kept out of the loop for.
