A sigh escaped your jaws. 'It's time'. Ink raised his arm and grabbed his giant paintbrush. He pointed it the forward and started to swirl it. Papyrus stood patiently on one side and you tensed up nervously on the other.
You were mesmerized as the black ink fell and looped back up and around. It started to swirl and create a portal. At last, the portal completed itself, turning into more a paint-like consistency. You exhaled steadily, not realizing you held your breath.
Ink made a sharp nod after examining the portal and put his paintbrush back on his back. "Okay, this portal is very stable and we should be a safe distance from Error when we arrive," Ink informed.
You lifted your head confidently and you replayed the plan in your head, but you couldn't lie to yourself.
You were scared.
What would Error think of you after escaping successfully and lying right to his face? He was, though reluctant to show it, nice to you. You whined in a low tone, concern gnawing at your guts. And if he did catch all of you? A shiver ran down your spine. You'd rather prefer not to linger on that subject.
"Hey, you alright?" Ink asked reassuringly as Papyrus prepared to enter the portal.
You nodded, flustered he noticed your strange behavior. "Yeah, I'm just nervous," you admitted.
He kneeled beside you and scratched your neck and jaw in an attempt to comfort you, and it worked. You licked his palm as a thanks in return and he got up to approach the swirling black portal. You stood by him, still hesitant as Papyrus already made it to the other side. You gazed into the black portal struggling to slow your racing heart.
"Don't worry," Ink spoke softly, staring into the black swirl. "We'll be alright."
He took a deep breath in and walked into the murky depths. You followed shortly behind. Closing your eyes and letting yourself embrace the rip in the time and space fabric. You emerged on the other side to two awaiting skeletons.
"Everyone ready?" You nodded and they did as well.
"Alright. Good luck, Y/N."
You gave a thankful ear flick and walked right towards a soft static noise in the distance. Your nerves were practically dancing around at this point and your fur was on end. You could sense Ink and Papyrus following slowly behind, trying not to rush in before the words with Error. It took about one minute of walking before you saw blue strings stretch endlessly up and the flickering shaped of Error beside Sans.
As soon as Error spotted you, you perked your ear upwards and ran towards him. You skidded to a halt in front of him and panted lightly. Glancing up, you eyes met with Error's shocked expression and Sans' even more shocked expression.
"Error," you gasped out of breath for show.
He just stared at you blankly. "How did you get here?"
You regained your posture and glanced apologetically at Sans. "Ink is on his way to challenge you for Sans. I came along with him to warn you," you replied, turning your head away so you wouldn't meet Sans' disappointment.
Error looked taken aback for a moment and then scratched your head with a pleased smile. "Thank you," he chuckled. "I might find some way to reward you."
He faced ahead, ready to confront Ink. Sans was pulled up to the ceiling by the blue wires. You wanted so badly for him to know things would turn out all right, but that would be too risky. You stood behind Error and underneath Sans, ready for when Papyrus would teleport here and save Sans. It took a couple seconds before Ink approached with Papyrus nowhere in sight. You sighed with relief, but that wasn't going to last long.
