Prologue
Have you ever had the feeling that you were meant to be more that what was laid out in front of you? That you were meant to do something great that would probably change the world. Thats how Ive felt ever since I was a kid, and that feeling was almost erased one day, like a leaf in an open flame. To be honest I dont really like talking about my past all that much, unfortunately you wouldnt be able to follow the rest of the story without it. Its almost funny, that everything that Ive been through would end up helping me out in the long run.
As a little boy, I grew up in a small village on the out skirts of the kingdom of Pyrus, along with my mom and dad. It was a beautiful village, surrounded by open plains and even mountains off in the distance. During the day, I would play with my friends in the fields, while my parents would tend to our crops and animals. It was a great life; I had even decided that I would enlist in the kings army as soon as I was old enough, to my moms disapproval of course.
But one day, everything change, forever. For a while now the four kingdoms had been disputing over territory and resources. As well as whos kingdoms guardian was more supreme. Thus, small villages like mine would be over taxed, and bullied in exchange for protection from the Pyrus soldiers. Eventually, the inhabitants of my village grew tired of the abuse, especially since there had never been an attack on our village to justify the increasing tax rate. So, they threatened to report the abuse to the king, and thats when it all started.
Word had leaked to the soldiers somehow, that the villagers were going to report them to the king for unauthorized increase in taxation rate, as well as abuse of power. So, in a panic they asked my village for forgiveness, and to swear to secrecy. However, my village refused and continued as planned to report the injustice to the king. This frightened the soldiers, because the penalty for such actions were imprisonment and even death. Again, the soldiers pleaded to my village, but to no avail, and that night they took matters into their own hands, that night the pillaged my home, that night, that night, I lost everything.
Although it all happened so fast I remember every detail of it. They began under the cover of night, lighting our village on fire and then storming through killing everyone in sight. All I could hear were the screams of people dying and begging for their lives, and at that moment our door was kicked in and I had to witness the murder of my parents right before my very eyes.
About a week later I found myself on the border between the kingdom Pyrus, and the kingdom of Aeros. Surprisingly the soldiers did not kill everyone, instead they captured us kids, I guess they found it more profitable to sell us of as salve, rather than killing us. At the time, enslaving kids was the easiest route, due to the fact that their will was easy to break, and just as expected, I was sold to the highest bidder.
I was purchased by an illegal doctor, where my body was succumbed to test various poisons, antidotes, and medicines. It was a painful and unbearable existence, to the point where I just wanted to die. Until one day I decided that I could not take it anymore, and under the cover of night I made my escape. To my surprise the doctor never tried to restrain me, I knew my chances of survival would be slim if I escaped I guess he thought that would be enough to keep me put. I wondered, around in the wilderness for about a week, until one day I collapsed, on the verge of death. I thought it was all over for me, so I just started crying and wondering why this had to happen to me.
I eventually passed out from exhaustion, and to my surprise I woke up under a tent. Naturally, I got up and investigated my situation and found that I had been saved by some travelers in a caravan. They explained to me that while travelling a storm was brewing in the direction of their original course, so the changed direction to camp until it dissipated, which is when they found me unconscious in the middle of the trail. I thanked then, and told them what happened to me, which is when they insisted I lived with them. I wasnt open to the idea at first, but they saved my life and treated my wounds so I decided to trust them, especially since I had nowhere else to turn. At this time, I was around ten years old, sad huh, I would think this is a good place to start my story.
