Chapter One:
"Come on Jack, lets play in my room!" said the 10 year old named Laffieta while she ran up the stairs.
"I'm comin' I'm comin'" said Jole.
Laffieta was an "average normal" type of girl. She was average height and weight for her age and had average looks. She had long coal black hair, naturally tanned soft skin, soft light brown eyes, and a cute button nose.
"Laffieta who are you talking to!" called Laffieta's mother.
"My friend!" replied Laffieta peeking her head out of her new room.
"Oh, so you made a friend already! That's good. You'll have to introduce me to"
"Jole!"
"Jole. Thats a good name. I'm going to help the movers bring in the rest of the furniture. Call me if you need me!"
"Ok!"
Michelle, Laffieta's mother was a strong woman. She took pride in everything she did and was not afraid to speak her mind. She was a bit taller for a 29 year old woman and looked great for a single mother. She had short light brown wavy hair that just went below her ears, and fierce eyes that would either scare you off or let you know her strength and pride. As a mother she would surely win the mother of the year award ten years in a row. Michelle's boyfriend left her the moment she told him she was pregnant. Throughout the pregnancy she made sure to eat all the right foods, take the right vitamins, and to exercise the right amount. For eight months and 21 days Michelle took care of herself and school work at the same time. After Laffieta was born Michelle took a break from school for a year to take care of Laffieta. She worked part time as a waitress at an old dinner she knew. After Laffieta turned one she got Laffieta a babysitter and began school again. Years pass and Michelle graduated from school, passed the bar test and moved to a nice little community by the ocean and boating docks in August.
"Laffieta come down it is time for dinner!" Michelle yelled up the stairs to Laffieta's bedroom.
"Coming mama!" Yelled Laffieta the door still closed.
Laffieta bursted out of the door and ran down the stairs almost losing her footing every two steps.
"Laffieta, I told you not to run down wooden stairs with socks on."
"I know mama. But I am so excited!"
Michelle swooped Laffieta up and carried her like a princess to the dining room.
"I know I know, so am I. New state, new town, new neighbors, new house, new furniture. It is all just so exciting."
Laffieta ran to the window and looked out into the water with a look of wonder on her face. Laffieta pointed out to the ocean.
"Mama, what is that?"
Michelle walked over to the window already knowing what she was probably pointing to. They lived by the docks so it was probably a fishing boat with it's lights on. When Michelle looked out of the window she didn't see anything. She thought that it had left already. But Laffieta still looked out the window like it was still there.
"Hmm. It was probably a boat. Ok! Time for dinner. I made mac and cheese."
"Yay! My favorite, thank-you mama."
----
"How was your day at school today?" Michelle said as Laffieta walked through the door with the same wide grin she wears everyday coming home from school.
"It was great! I played with Jole, Karla, Zala, and Jerico."
Laffieta took off her shoes, sat down on her couch, and took her homework out from her backpack.
