The Girl Next Door

ETHAN'S POV

I miss Colorado. I miss everything being quiet at times. Don't get me wrong I love California, but it's just different and I will have to get used to all of this. 

One thing I can't get out of my mind is the girl next door. I think her name is Samantha, that's at least what Lily said. It's nice to finally see what she looks like. She is all that Lily would talk about. At times it would get very annoying. But, now I am here. Lying in bed and she is all I can think about...

I was about to go outside and play basketball when the home phone went off.

SAMANTHA'S POV

"Hey Sammy"

"Yes dad?" I said putting down my book.

"I just invited the new family over for dinner. I invited Rebecca too." My dad said cleaning up the kitchen.

Okay first of all, this is this families first day fully here what the hell, and I HATE Rebecca.

"Ughhh dad why Rebecca." 

"We are dating now Samantha. I know it is hard for you to understand but it is happening. I love your mother and I will always love her." My dad said staring me dead in the eyes.

"Well I know that, you have never stopped loving mom, but she is so weird. I know weird is good, but this is different. She loves shopping and going to get her hair done. She only goes to the beach to get tan dad.... You couldn't have picked a more different girl." I said rolling my eyes.

"Aye! Cut the attitude right now. I like her and that's all that matters."

"Yeah yeah yeah."

"Hey, can you go to the shop and get these photos developed for me. On the way pick some of this stuff up from the store I have a customer who needs help." And with that my dad was gone.

Not too far from the house my dad owns a photography shop. I work there sometimes after school and during the summer. It is near the beach and also works as a surf shop. When my parents first moved to Cali they fell in-love with surfing. So we own a photo art surf shop you could call it. 

I grab the list from the counter and I'm off. Since I don't have a car yet I decide to walk. I hate taking the bus. 

I quickly get to the shop and do what I have to do. Now it is time for shopping. Luckily the store isn't too far away so I can just walk there.

After walking around for about 30 minutes I make it to the store.

Why the hell does my dad need duck and pineapple. I swear to god he thinks he is some awesome cook, but in reality he kind of sucks. But, you would never tell him it. When I was walking down the aisle I say the boy. Lily's cousin. She was right... he was gorgeous.

"Hey Samantha right?" The boy said getting my attention.

Shit I was probably staring for too long. 

"Uh, hey yeah." I said playing with my hair nervously.

"Well I'm Ethan it's nice to finally meet you. Lily has told me a lot about you."

"Only good things I hope." I say joking.

"Of course." He says winking making my checks blush.

After about 10 seconds of super awkward silence his little sister runs up to me smiling.

"HI SAMANTHA! Remember me it's Chloe! We are coming over for dinner tonight!!" She said jumping up and down squealing.

"Haha I know it will be a lot of fun. On that subject I should get going I'm getting some food for tonight. See you guys there." And with that I slowly walked away.
