Dear, Words

I have been obsessed with you from the moment I could not fathom you on the page or out of the mouth. When I mumbled instead of talked,I know your meaning was lighting up like fireworks in my mind, I was just not able to bring them into existence.

When I learned to make you alive, at a young age, I was writing my first book. I took your 26 letters and formed them into words, and put them into strange combinations that I thought had value. I remember being proud, showing it to everyone.

Words, you are the ladder between minds. You allow us to see a small fragment of another's puzzle of a brain. You are the meaning behind songs, allowing us to relate or enjoy that beautiful noise we call music. You let our thoughts rest for just a moment, as our eyes bathe in the sea of letters we call books. You inspire revolutions and spark epiphanies; even the most important being, God, uses you to reach his creation.

Words, I have used your beauty for things I am now ashamed of. I allowed unhealthy thoughts to leap out of my mind, forming into a tangible good. You can burn it or delete it, yet we both know that you melt into Earth's foundation, staining the world like how a tattoo artist stains skin.

However, words, I am dedicating my life to you! I hope to use you to change the world! When I allow myself to pick up a pen, or tap my fingers on a keyboard, I feel at peace. I allow these seeds, my thoughts, to grow into flowers. And I love to put those flowers into a vase so that others can smell and see them whenever they want, and receive peace from them as well.

Unlike flowers, you never die. You are always fragrant and your color only grows more vibrant with age.
