After the long day of school, and literature class's episode with Jake, I ride the bus home in silence, just rewinding our conversation in my head,  almost like a broken record.

When I get home, I'm welcomed with the smell of chicken Alfredo and garlic bread. I look in the kitchen and see my mom cooking.

"Hey," she says, in sort of a perky voice. "How was school?"

I smile, and blush a little just thinking about Jake.

"It was alright. I have a lot of  homework."

She points to my room, is the key for "Get it done", so I nod and do what she says, or didn't say but show, in this case.

When I get to my room, I put my things down and lay on my bed, just thinking about him. How I wish he knew how much I love him and how we could go to a lake and sit there while enjoying a sandwich or whatever, just talking about our feelings or if he wanted to, about our day. I just want one night with him, even if he doesn't want me or like me.

My thoughts are interrupted by my phone, buzzing like a bee when it notices that flowers are now in bloom.

I pick up my phone. Three Facebook messages?

They're from Jake.

"He"

"Sorry, meant 'hey'"

"Lol"

For some reason, this made me smile.

I message back:

"Hello. :)"

It only took four seconds for him to reply.

"How was school?"

I could say:

"Oh, it was fantastic after talking with you. It made my day. <3"

But, instead I said:

"Pretty horrific. lol You?"

Him: "I thought today was great. Why so horrific?"

Me: "So much homework. :("

Him: "Ahh. I see. Well, it's not that bad. At least, not horrifically bad. :)"

I paused for a second.

He was right. Homework isn't too bad. Despite all the hair pulling, erasing, thinking, and eye straining, it is worth it in the end, I guess.

I answer back:

"Yeah. True."

Him: ":)"

"ELIZE, DINNER IS DONE!" my mother calls out, even though she was only about 5 feet from the door.

I tell him that I have to go and eat.

Then he replies:

"Okay. Enjoy your supper. <3 lol"

It wasn't until  a few seconds after the message when I noticed the little heart emoticon. I blush, cry in my mind a little, and say thanks.

Time for dinner, now. Bye Jake.
