viii. NEW MAN
I don't wanna know about your new man, cause if it was meant to be
You wouldn't be calling me up trying to
Cause I'm positive that he don't wanna know about me

SHE WAS PRETTY CERTAIN THAT EDMUND WAS UNAWARE OF HER INJURY. As far as Hero knew, she woke up to the rays of the sun hitting her face. Blinking sleep away, she shifted on top of the griffin, her arms still looped around Edmund's waist as she groaned at the pain in her back with every movement.

"You alright?" Edmund asked. "We're almost there. You took quite the shove from that guard back there."

So that's what he thought. She was hurt from a mere rough housing. Hero coughed, nodding in response. "Alright enough." She glanced down to see that they were now approaching the How. It took a while for the griffin to descend as Hero saw Peter and Caspian jumping off their horses and storming to go to the direction of where Lucy was.

"What happened?" The youngest Pevensie asked the two furious teenage boys.

"Ask him," Peter spat at Caspian, rage evident in those beautiful blue eyes.

"Peter," Susan chastised as Edmund slowly descended with his griffin.

"Me?" Caspian roared back at Peter. "You could have called it off. There was still time."

"Caspian," Hero chided in the same tone Susan had used on Peter, but coughed shortly after from the pain flaring behind her.

"No there wasn't thanks to you. If you and Hero kept to the plan, those soldiers might be alive right now."

Caspian had a deadly look on his face as he went right up to Peter's face. "Leave Hero out of this, and if you'd just stayed here like I suggested, they definitely would be!"

"You called us, remember?"

An icy look was sent to Peter. "My first mistake."

"No," Peter protested. "Your first mistake was thinking you could lead these people." He said airily and tried to walk passed Caspian.

Hero was done with this crap. Edmund jumped off the magnificent creature and helped Hero down, lending her a hand. She winced as she dropped to her feet. The dark haired boy sent her a concerned glance but she waved him off, thankful that her clothes were dark and concealed the blood.

"Hey!" Caspian yelled loudly and his next words struck Hero frozen. "I am not the one who abandoned Narnia."
