Rejecting The Beta
Chapter 9
As I was led by Ace, my conscience told me that something wasn't right.
Why did Ace reject his mate? Does he want me to do the same?
The truth is, I need time. I needed space to think. And with all this stress, I can't take decisions.
We stopped walking and I realised that we were in the middle of the forest. The forest where Ace and I used to meet before he became the Alpha.
"Ace, why did you reject your mate?" I asked.
"Because, I love you Jezebel."
By now, my heart slammed in my chest.
"This is wrong," I whispered.
"Really Jez? Do you not love me? Are you willing to go with Ethan?" He asked in an almost accusing tone.
"It's not that... but..." he didn't let me complete the sentence as he pinned me against the nearest tree.
He looked angry. Furious. He then held my wrists and pinned them above my head showing dominance.
It wasn't going to work with me.
"I need time, Ace. You have to understand." I pleaded.
"No," he shrieked, "YOU need to understand Jezebel. You need to choose, now. It's either me or Ethan. Remember, I rejected MY MATE for YOU."
I visibly gulped.
I didn't like where this was going. I couldn't make my choice, yet. Ethan was a good soul and I can't just go and reject him. I just can't. Ace shouldn't have rejected his mate. And I need to reason with him.
His grip on me tightened and he kept staring me. His eyes bored into mine.
"Me. Or. Him.?" He pronounced each word very carefully.
"I demand that you step away from my mate, Ace Blackwood."
Ethan. Ethan was here. I let out a breath of relief.
Ace looked at Ethan with such hatred that it scared me.
Ace growled at him and turned back his attention to me.
"Now, I take that you chose me, dear." He muttered in a voice so evil that it sent shivers through my body.
His face was suddenly in the crook of my neck as I writhed and that's when I got to know his intentions.
He was going to mark me, forcefully. Infront of my own mate.
No. I can't let that happen. It would break both me and Ethan.
Panic consumed me.
"No no no!!! No!" I screamed and tried to kick Ace, but he was to fast to block my legs with his knees.
"You'll like this," he whispered in my ear and his teeth grazed the skin where my neck and shoulder met.
That's when he was yanked away from me. It was Alpha Mason and Ethan.
"Have you lost your mind Ace?" Alpha Mason, shouted.
It looked like Ace had been slapped. His expression was broken as he looked at me.
I couldn't take any of this anymore as I fell to the ground, sobbing.
Ethan was beside me in a second and hugged me.
