I Have Failed You

Life could be so cruel at times. It could decide one day to take away everything you hold dear and smash it right before bearing eyes. Or if luck was on your side, everything could one day simply fall into place. Everything could be perfect.

Or it could fall to complete bloody crap.

Peter Pan and Evelina Frost's lives were both going perfectly only mere moments ago. Everything was taken from their grasps. Everything had changed. Everything now was a disaster. Everything had dissolved into ashes. The man Pan despised the most had destroyed everything he held dear.

Jack Frost had taken his Evelina away from him. Pan couldn't control himself.

His mind was clouded by rage, anger, and everything in-between. And because Pan was now in a foul mood, he had commanded every one of his lost boys to terrorize everyone who dared step outside of their homes.

Felix peeked into the Mayor's office and saw Pan staring at various maps. Many were laid out before him on his desk. He was hunched over, eyebrows furrowed, and face completely red. When Pan heard Felix walk in, he stood up straight.

"Have you found him?" Pan mused and Felix cleared his throat.

"No. We have no trace of the Dark One." Felix informed and Pan's eyes narrowed. Pan picked up a glass full of wine and threw it against a wall.

"AND WHY EXACTLY NOT?" He boomed and Felix took a step back. He had seen Pan angry many times. But this time, something was different. Something was off.

Felix knew it was because Pan missed his dear Evelina. Felix didn't know what to tell his friend in order for him to calm down.

"Pan, it isn't exactly easy to find Rumpelstiltskin." Felix said trying to reason with the boy but it was impossible. Pan had lost all sense of reason when Evelina was taken from him.

"Excuses! I want him found, NOW!" Pan screamed and Felix bowed his head.

"Of course, Pan. Right away." Felix said and walked out of the trashed office, leaving Peter Pan completely devastated.

And once Pan was sure his friend was gone he turned to the only thing he had to remember his girl by. The small snowflake that sat on his desk hovered in its little display carrier. Peter Pan broke to his knees when he saw it and sat down on the ground, buring his face into his hands.

And for the first time in forever, he let a single tear slip down his red, blotchy cheeks.

It was silent between the Frost family.
Evelina instantly regretted everything she had said. She stared at the floor. She was too afraid to even glance up to look at her father, in fear he would be completely broken and torn. Instead, she got something worse.

"How did you find out your mother is dead?" Jack Frost demanded with angry blaring eyes and Evelina looked up in shook. His face was turning red and the temperature was officially in the negatives. But neither of the gifted ice people noticed. Jack was too blinded by his daughter's behavior to even realize what he had said.

Evelina registered what her father said and scrunched her face up. She didn't understand at first what he meant by it but Evelina soon came to a horrid conclusion.

Jack Frost knew all along. He knew the dreaded truth yet he had never told his own daughter that her mother had passed.

"Did.... Did you already know she was dead?" Evelina asked with horror laced in her voice. Her baby blue eyes were widened and now, little spikes of ice appeared on the walls. Jack was left speechless. He realized his enormous mistake and knew he couldn't take it back, no matter how much he pleaded to the moon. It wasn't a dream. So instead, he decided to embrace it like a man.

Jack flew away.

"DAD!"

North knew something was wrong. He knew something was wrong because the young Frost had isolated herself in her room, there at the North Pole. She hadn't come out for dinner, and North and the yeti's had made her favorite meal. Evelina still refused to come out of her room. Even for chili cheese fries.

North couldn't find the Guardian of Fun either. Jack had disappeared somewhere, not even leaving a note behind.

"Dingle, a plate of cookies!" North's voice boomed and the small elf gave a silly smile before hs scurried away. When Dingle the elf returned, he had a plate of cookies above his head, most were already half eaten, courtesy of the elves. North took the plate nonetheless and walked to Evelina's door. He knocked on it and cleared his throat.

"Evie? I have cookies!" He called out to the young girl. He got no reply. North sighed and scratched his beard.

"I don't know what your father did or said, but know he loves you very much Evelina. He, my child, has dome everything to keep you safe. And he went to great lengths to make sure you had a semi normal life. He didn't always make the correct decisions, Evelina, but he did what he did to protect you. And he did the things he did the way he did because he thought it was the best decision for you. Don't be too harsh on him." North finished.

He didn't know if the young girl would understand. He knew a teenager could be blinded by hatred, love and even hunger at their age.

North had never dealt with teenagers. As a guardian, usually only young children believed in them. Teenagers forget about Santa Claus the older they grew.

And when Evelina did come over to stay with her father, it was during winter, and close to Christmas time. North never got to truly imteract with Evelina.

Until now.

And North had no idea how to deal with an emotional teenager.

Jack Frost flew through the cold sky against the harsh wind. He knew he had messed up everything between him and his daughter. And now, Jack had no idea how to fix it. He had kept a terrible secret from his daughter. He was lost.

Jack landed on the ground. He sighed and began to walk towards the giant rock that stuck out of the dirt. He hadn't been to the spot in so long. He felt terrible when he saw the name of his loved one etched on her tombstone.

"I'm so sorry, Elsa. I have been a terrible father to our girl." He whispered softly and placed his forehead against the tombstone.

Jack didn't expect a respond. He knew she was gone forever. But he had hope one day he would see his love Elsa again. Even if it was only for a second.

"I have failed you, my snow queen, as a husband and as a father to our beautiful daughter. Forgive me."

Hate to be the one to say this but...

Self promotion is NOT allowed in this book.

It sounds selfish but this is my book and I know an author has to promote their books but this just isn't the place to do it. I feel like I shouldn't even have to address this situation because I know other authors don't like it either.

It's annoying. Really it is. And it's even more annoying for me because I have to go and delete the comments in every chapter (I may have missed some).

I have a lot of chapters. It's going to take a while.

So overall I just want to say...

STOP
