One: Dreams that Change Reality

The young straight Kieran had lead a great life. Following in the footsteps of the people around him, he grew up on a farm and was taught the way of what the "normal" lifestyle of a boy his age should be. He annually went hunting and fishing, rode along side his dad and grandpa in farm equipment, and even somewhat enjoyed sports. That was until the expectations became too much for him to handle.

The questions began one day and stuck with him, like the normal "Are you still playing Football?" or "Do you have a girlfriend yet?" These average everyday questions flooded Kieran's small simple lifestyle, because the truth was he began to dislike sports, and hunting, and fishing, and everything else these questions contained.

The truth was he didn't, or as a matter of fact ever think of a girl being his so called "girlfriend" he just liked them as friends, but when he tried to explain that people would always say, "There'll come a day when you think of women as much more than just friends, but apparently it's not today." Kieran took this silly saying to heart and was eager for his day to come, and like he had waited for and anticipated so dearly the day finally came his Freshman year in high school, but the only problem was it wasn't with a girl.

His name was Holden VanFair, one of the tallest, shy, most unnoticed kids in Kieran's small school. Which goes to say because in the three years Kieran has been to this new school he's never really even seen Holden, other than the fact of having him in a few classes and partnering with him from time to time on projects. For Kieran school has always been a place where he goes to forget, to work, to focus on something other than his family life which at the moment wasn't well.

Throughout Kieran's life he's always avoided the questions people have had on his family, for although his family is quite wealthy, living from a line of cattle farmers and doctors. They're not the slightest bit happy with themselves or each other. Every night a new problem or fight seems to arise in the household for little reasons like the dishes or even a comb that's been misplaced. Throughout the small fights the blame begins to get tossed around, being pointed from person to person, always seeming to land on Kieran, because it's easy to blame someone who's quiet and doesn't have a say on things being the youngest of the family.

So to escape the madhouse that was his life Kieran turned his main focus to school, attempting to keep good grades and maybe make a future for himself, which seemed to be going quite well with him keeping an average of a 3.8 GPA each year, this furthered the reason behind why he's never really noticed Holden as for when they worked together his main focus was on getting a good grade.

Kieran's vividly wild affection started for Holden at the start of homecoming week his freshman year of high school. The students were each separated, paired, and grouped into small segments throughout the school. Luckily for Kieran he was paired with Holden's group on hallway duty. Their goal was to decorated the halls of the school and make it visually appealing for the staff and football players of the homecoming ceremony. Already bored and upset enough about having to decorate for homecoming the week before finals, Kieran decided to hang streamers from the ceiling in the schools colors.

Carefully and patiently weaving each streamer in and out of the ceiling tiles Kieran had his days work set for him, as he had to carefully do one tile at a time and slightly move the chair from under him each time he moved on to a new tile, since he wasn't tall enough to reach the tiles on his own. One by one he weaved the tiles, stepping up and down on his chair every time he moved slightly to the next one in line, when he lost his hold on a tile and dropped the wrap of streamers.

Thudding to the ground the streamers bounced and unraveled across the school floor bumping into the back of someone's leg. Turning around and picking up the bundled ball of messy streamers they walked up to Kieran who was high up on the chair. Kieran who was attempting to fix the crooked tile was caught off guard when an unfamiliar voice sounded in front of him.
