Sally and Jeffrey moved to a town called Gettysburg , Pa. Sally was sitting in the living room with her new husband , Jeffrey. While they were watching the news , a baby cries in the night interrupting their entertainment. Sally looks to Jeffrey with a curious look on her face. "Jeffrey...do you hear that?" Sally nudges Jeffrey to focus on what she said. "What is it Sal?" The Baby's cry echoes down the road bouncing off houses. " Don't you hear a child crying?" Jeffrey becomes quiet , muting the television . Jeffrey listens to the echoing cry as it gets louder. Jeffrey sighs , getting up off the couch. "Yes, I can hear the cry but, it seems like it's coming from the outside. I wonder why a baby is out there at this time of night..." Sally gets up off the couch and walks over to the window. She opens the blinds gently and to her surprise , a baby lay in the middle of a road in a basket. Sally pulls Jeffrey to the window and points at the basket. "Jeffrey we have to do something! We can't just leave it out there all alone..it could get ran over!" She would look at him with a stern and worried look. Jeffrey mumbles , " oh brother...your motherly instincts have taken over.. but , I'll go out and get the baby for you." Jeffrey slowly opens the door and cautiously looks around before going out onto the road. He runs across swiftly and carry the basket back into the house. Sally turns on the light locking the front door and looks into the basket with a big smile. Tears roll down her cheeks with her joyful expression. "Jeffrey...she's beautiful." She said in a soft voice. Jeffrey looks into the basket smiling and gently stroking the baby's cheek. "She really is Sal....what should we name her?" Sally thinks for a moment and looks at him enthusiastically. " We should name her Lucy..don't you think Jeff?" He replies , " that's a wonderful name for a beautiful girl." He said kissing Sally's cheek and hugging her gently. " Jeffrey , let's get her to bed so she won't be tired tomorrow." Sally looked at the clock that now read 11:34 p.m. He responds yawning , "Yes....and we should also go to bed or we will be groggy and grumpy tomorrow." Sally picks up the basket with Lucy inside and brings her up to the master bedroom. Jeffrey follows behind her and lays onto the bed while Sally puts the baby on a bed stand and she slowly rocks her to sleep. She then lays in bed next to Jeffrey and kisses him goodnight. Finally, they all drift fast asleep.
