Zayan's POV

Rafe burst through the door of the conference room with a heavy thud, his labored breathing echoing in the silent space. Sweat dripped down his brow, and his eyes, wide with panic, scanned the room before settling on Zayan.

The conference room, previously filled with the quiet hum of business, fell into an uneasy stillness as everyone turned to look at the sudden disruption. Zayan, sitting confidently in a large round chair, rose to his feet, his expression shifting from calm professionalism to subtle annoyance. He hated interruptions, especially during work. His hand instinctively clenched into a fist, but his calm demeanor remained intact. His shoulders were squared, and his posture rigid as he made his way toward Rafe.

"Are you out of your mind, Rafe? Don't you see I'm in a meeting?" Zayan's voice was steady, though there was an edge of irritation lurking beneath. He tried to remain composed, but something about the urgency in Rafe's demeanor caught his attention.

Rafe, barely managing to catch his breath, looked around the room, as if realizing the gravity of the situation. "It's urgent, Zayan. Come with me," he said, his voice strained, a hint of fear in his eyes.

Zayan arched a brow, glancing at his clients, whose attention was now fully on the exchange. His stomach tightened, the unfamiliar anxiety creeping in. He nodded, excusing himself, and followed Rafe out of the room, his mind already racing with questions.

As they made their way down the hallway, Zayan couldn't suppress his concern. "What's going on? You're scaring me," he asked, his tone betraying a rare flicker of vulnerability.

Rafe stopped in his tracks, his face ashen, and his gaze fixed on the floor. The words seemed to hang in the air, heavy and unspoken, before he managed to choke them out.

"Rey... he tried to commit suicide."

Zayan froze. His heart seemed to stop beating. The world around him blurred, and his legs wobbled, struggling to carry the weight of the news. His breath caught in his throat as a wave of disbelief hit him like a ton of bricks. His hands shook as he gripped the nearest object—a chair—desperately trying to stay grounded.

"Which hospital?" Zayan's voice was raw, barely a whisper, but it cut through the air like a knife.

Rafe, still lost in his own turmoil, gestured for Zayan to follow him. Without another word, Zayan was on his feet, trailing behind his best friend, desperate to reach his brother.

They entered the elevator, the small space feeling suffocating. Zayan's eyes never left Rafe, whose face was an unreadable mask, but his eyes betrayed the storm inside. Rafe pressed the button for the ground floor, his hand trembling slightly as he did so. Zayan, too, remained silent, his mind consumed by thoughts of his brother.

The elevator doors opened, and they hurried toward Rafe's black Rolls Royce, the engine roaring to life as they sped down the road. Ten minutes later, they arrived at the hospital, the sterile, lifeless building looming before them.
