Authors note: I don't even know where I'm going with this but
Gerard sat on the porch of his and Frank's house on a lazy, warm afternoon. Bugs were buzzing lazily, big fat clouds drifted across the color streaked sky. Then a dog, a huge-ass, man eating dog skitters down the road, brutish face full of fury. It's beady eyes were red and it's maw dripped with foam. Gerard was speechless. "Here, puppy! Who's a good boy?" He said, in that cute voice you use on dogs when you're desperately hoping he will be a good boy and not rip your throat out. The dog's ears perked and it stopped it's wild charge. It approached carefully, the foam ceasing, sniffing at Gerard. "Uh, good boy?" He asked, holding out his hand, hoping it wouldn't bite off. The dog looked up at him indifferently, shrugged, and laid at his feet.
The dog was an okay girl. Frank freaked out when he saw it, and immediately to the internet. "You're saying this dog just, showed up?" He asked, eyeing the brute at Gerard's feet. Frank was typing hurriedly. Some rabid dog just showing up couldn't be good. After typing in "mysterious black dog" he found what he was looking for: black dogs of Europe. Horrible dog-like beasts that hunted down people and foretold their death. Frank supposed that since Gerard was already dead it didn't matter. He sighed in relief and began to type in "good names for hell hounds."
Gerard, Frank, and the dog fell asleep together in their bed. It was nice, Frank thought, to have a pet. Even if it was a demon dog sent to hunt down his boyfriend. He reached down and patted the brute, that he'd named Lucifer, and it rumbled softly in approval. It looked almost like a pitbull, he mused. He realized it had horns just as he fell asleep.
Lucifer didn't eat much. In fact she didn't eat at all. Gerard joked she ate shadows, but when the shadows of mugs and even the couch disappeared with no other obvious culprit than Lucifer, he realized he wasn't joking. Frank didn't know how to explain why or how they had a red eyed, demon horned pitbull and he hoped he wouldn't have to.
