"The dawn before the sunrise is always the darkest, honey."

---

Alese walked alongside the blonde man, keeping a meter distance from him as they approached the worn down castle. It looks too abandoned... Erwin kept eerily quiet as they walked on. She slowed down her steps until she was a bit behind from the man, taking quick glances at each direction. It's too quiet. "Is there anything wrong, Miss Basch?" She lifted her head, meeting the icy eyes of the commander. Her face flashed a stern look before speaking. "Yes, sir?" She questioned, stopping her steps as the commander turned to face her. "If you have anything to say, please feel free to anytime." He said in a monotone voice before turning back to the direction of the castle. She raised her eyebrow at him as she watched the man walk at a slow pace towards the wooden entrance. What was that about. She frowned before proceeding to follow Erwin from behind, not lifting her eyes away from his back.

Twigs snapping into pieces quickly resonated through the empty air as they neared the entrance. Erwin reached out to push the wooden door open, resulting in creaks echoing throughout the interior on the castle. She stepped back and stood on her toes, hoping she could see the inside. Before she could, the man in front of her stood aside, stretching his hand towards the inside of the building "Welcome," He smiled. She looked at him before stepping forward, her dirtied shoes meeting the polished wooden floor.  Her eyes quickly met the stone cobble that made up the entire castle, along with torches resting on stands nailed to the walls. "Damn it's clean." She mumbled under her breath, frowning at the cleanliness around her that felt so foreign. Her lungs expanded, taking in the air fresher than the outside before exhaling it out.

"Commander Erwin? Is that you?" Alese turned her head to the direction of an arch opening, watching a woman peeking out. She narrowed her eyes at her appearance; orange hair, and big round eyes, it's that woman.

"Yes, it is me, Petra." The commander behind her spoke up, stepping into the building as well. She shortly glanced at the blonde man who was now in front of her before looking back at the girl. Her insides jumped upon seeing the familiar woman stare and smile at her. Alese quickly but elegantly bowed towards Petra after stepping to the side.

"Oh? You must be Miss. Basch!" She smiled warmly, stepping out of the room she was in and fast walking towards her. The orange-haired woman stopped in front of her and bowed "I'm Petra," She said before standing up straight to smile at her once again. Alese managed to flash a proper smile on the outside. Petra Ral, she is a part of the Levi Squad, meaning she was handpicked by Levi himself to join his group of elites. Interesting to see her in person, I must say.

"Petra, I want you to call everyone else for a meeting. Make sure everyone's in the hall by sunset." The commander ordered. Petra responded with a 'Yes, Sir' before turning back to Alese.

"Do you have your luggage? " Petra looked at her questioningly. Alese shook her head before pointing at the carriage outside of the castle. "They're still in there." She watched Petra look outside at she stood on her toes. "Ah~ I'll help you unpack, wait for me here." She smiled before walking past alese, stepping out of the castle. "No, it's fine," Alese said, trying to call her back, receiving no response in return.

"Don't worry, she's that type of person." She looked at the man behind her, seeing him smile back. She nodded at him before opening her mouth to speak. "I'll go and help her," She stated, heading towards the door.

"Oi, brat. Who said you could come in here with those shoes?"

Alese abruptly halted in her place, unable to deal with the tens of thousands of thoughts whizzing through her head. There he was, Levi Ackerman.

Alese lifted her feet, revealing a dark stain on the polished floor. "Ah, my apologies,"
