Joules POV
Joules sauntered to the sewer gate,
unlocking it with a click of her fingers. Any and all true pirates in the courts were here, to mourn her fathers death. And she still did not know how he died. She sighed and walked through the long, stone hall to the courtroom, where 9 of the ten lords sat on there thrones. The tenth throne was empty, and the Greywater emblem hung in the air above the seat.
"And who might you be miss, to enter the courtroom of pirates?" spoke one lord, Adrian Stormrend. The other lords looked to the two thrones in the centre of the hall, one occupied, the other empty. The king thrones. The thrones of the blood of the Stormrend's and Greywater's. Only true descendants could sit there and survive.
I raised my voice. "I am Joules Greywater's, daughter of the trickster pirate Lord Varen Greywater."
Suddenly the room fell into a hush.
"You mean to say that you are the lost daughter of Lord Greywater? And you mean to claim his throne?" exclaimed one of the lesser Lords, his emblem that of a fissured, cracked skull.
"Yes. And here is your proof."
I held out my arm, and closed my fist. Above the Greywater throne, the emblem of the sea disappeared, and the coin appeared in my hand.
I opened my fingers, and at the sign of the true magic, and I n the chaos that ensued I sat on the throne, next to Lord Adrian.
"It has been a long time, Joules."
"The same could be said about the last time my father was sober." I grunt. "He was neither a good pirate, or a good father; and I am reluctant to come back to this life. However, the sea calls, as it has done for the five years since he left me here with no crew and no ship.
Adrian raised an eyebrow "You mean this entire time the daughter he said was dead was...?"
"Right above the court, learning to be a true trickster? Indeed I was. Now I will captain his ship, if indeed I can call it."
Adrian nodded, then banged his fist on his throne.
"ENOUGH!" He shouted.
"We have arrangements to make. So now, we have the wardens of the code together again, we can begin..."
