Nathan's POV
I woke up and looked at the clock it said 6:00. I got up and took a shower. After that i put on some clothes and went to relax a little before school starts. I sat on a bench near the cafeteria and stared at me the sky.
"Hey" Said someone next to me. I jumped up and saw Kelly laughing uncontrollably.
"Don't sneak up on me like that!" I said
"Sorry it's just to much fun"
"Is this funny?" I said grabbing her and tickled her.
"NATHAN..... STOP....... PLEASE......" She said in between laughs. I stopped tickling her but kept my arms around her.
"So do i get an apology kiss?" She asked with a puppy dog face. I smiled. I leaned in and kissed her. I pulled away and stared into her sea green eyes.
"Come on let's get to class" Kelly said. We walked into the school hand in hand. She looked at me and said "I gotta get to class see you later."
"Me too" I said as we walked off to our classes. Math dragged on, so did English. I walked into shadow training and sat down next to Kelly.
"Today we will be learning to open portals but I already know how" She said
"I know, you've know how since we were 12" I reminded her. I stared up at the board. Ms. Sinet came in and told us to head to the field. After everyone was there she started to explain "Everyone will be spread out and then they will try to open a portal. To open a portal you have to clear your mind. Then you will feel yourself build energy, Let your soul form the portal."
"What about me I already know how" Said Kelly with her hand up.
"You can be my assistant helping out everyone ok?" Kelly just nodded. Everyone spread out and focusing on creating their portals. Most of the class got it on their first try. I turned and my mind went blank. I slowly built up energy. I released some of the energy allowing my soul to open a portal. My portal opened sea green like Kelly's eyes. I felt a sharp pain in my back and fell to my knees, my portal closed instantly. I heard a scream as Kelly and Ms. Sinet ran to my side. Kelly put her han on my back. I felt my back getting warm and sticky.
"Oh my....." Kelly and Ms. Sinet said together. Kelly had removed her hand from my back covered in blood. I looked up and she was on the verge of tears, I gave her a smile trying to cheer her up. Then everything went black.
Kelly's POV
Nathan fell to the ground unconscious as the school doctors ran out to the field. They picked him up and took him to the infirmary. I ran after them, about an hour later Nathan was laying on his stomach with a bandage around his body. The doctor walked in.
" He will live but the tests are inconclusive as to what happened" He said. I looked up at him.
"What? You guys have no idea what caused this?" I questioned
"No, we haven't seen anything like this in at least a hundred years or so." He said. I looked at Nathan. the doctor said one thing before he left "I'm sorry but we've done what we can, he can stay here until he is healed"
"Please wake up" I whispered to my self.
"If you want me too" Nathan said with a small laugh. He tried to change position but winced in pain and laid back on his stomach.
"Nathan you need to take it easy" I said putting my hand on his. I felt tears pulling at my eyes trying to escape. Nathan noticed and gave me a smile.
"Kelly i'm ok see! I'm going to be fine" He said.
"Yes, I hope so" I said
"Can you help me change this bandage? Please?" He asked
"ok but you have to be very still" I said slowly removing his bandage. I gasped when I saw his back. 3 lines cut into the shape of a crescent with a line right through the middle. I quickly but carefully put on a new bandage.
~ Two Weeks Later~
Nathan was finally allowed to leave the infirmary. That morning when we walked into school everyone was staring as we walked through the halls.
"Hey why don't we go to the library and research this?" I proposed
"Ok let's do that" He said and we walked off to the library.
