Not Close Enough

Chapter 3

Today was Saturday and I was so happy to not have to go to school. I slept in till 10:00 cause I was exhausted. When I got up I put on some leggings and a sweat shirt. I did my make up and my hair and brushed my teeth and all that stuff. I went into the kitchen and my brother was sitting there with somebody. They turn there heads and I realize it's Cameron. Oh god was I mad.

"Morning" they both said.

"Morning..." I said hesitantly.

My brother and Cameron never hung out as much as me and Cameron did. I was a little shocked so I figured I would get something to eat. I look in the fridge and in the cabinets and there is no bread no eggs no milk and no cereal.

"Do you guys wanna go out for breakfast?" my brother says

"Umm sure" me and Cameron say

I look into Cameron's eyes and immediately stare into them. He smiles and looks at me too. It's like I was never mad at him.

"We'll be out side in a minute" I said to Ryan as he walked out the door.

Me and Cameron waited inside.

"What's up?" he asked me

"I just wanted to apologize for blowing you off the other day"

"What do you mean I'm not mad" he said

"I guess I was just a little jealous when I saw you with Claire at school" I said

"There's nothing going on between me and Claire. I don't even like her. She's so stuck up" he says laughing

"So someone's a little jealous huh?" he says smiling.

"Not in that way haha" I say smiling

"Sure... Whatever you say..." He says

We get to the restaurant and sit at a table. We order our food and drinks. After we ate our food we decided to go swimming since summer was still here.

We go back to the house and put on our swim suits. I have a pool in my back yard so it's nice in the summer. I go outside and the boys are already in the pool. I jump in and we start messing around. The next thing I knew Ryan and Cameron dunked me underwater. It was weird seeing my brother and Cameron get along so well and hangout together.

CAMERON'S POV:

Mary left the pool to go get some water. I've had a crush on her ever since we were little. I just wish she liked me as much as I liked her.

"Hey dude" Ryan says to me

"What"

"Do you have a thing for my sister?" he asks me

"Umm I don't know why?"

"Because you totally act like it when you're around her."

"I do?!"

"Haha tricked ya so you do have a thing for her!" Ryan says laughing

"Fine I do, but it's not obvious is it?" I ask him

"No,but you just need to be more ya know romantic and stuff."

Mary walks in and we quickly stop talking.

"Hey guys" she says with her perfect voice

"Hey" we both say

"Hey Mary I was wondering if you wanted to go to the beach tonight?" I ask her

"Sure! What time are you thinking?"

"Wanna go now? The sunset is beautiful right now!" I say to her

"Ya let me tell my mom" she says back

"Nice dude" Ryan whispers to me laughing a little. Don't do anything stupid ya know, after all she is my sister. He says smiling

"Yes sir" I say to him in a sarcastic voice

MARY'S POV:

I can't believe Cameron asked me to go to the beach with him. I was so happy! We're on our way to the beach in Cameron's car when it starts to rain.

"Seriously" Cameron says angrily

"I know right!" I say back

"We can still go! let's just find an umbrella!" I say

"Ya you're right rain can't hurt"

We get to the beach grab an umbrella and go in the wet sand and lay our our blanket. We hold the umbrella over us trying not to get wet. He suddenly puts his arm around my shoulder and leans closer to me. I put my head I his shoulder and we watch the sunset. He looks at me and I look at him.

"You're beautiful. You know that right?" he says to me

I blush a little and answer back "I don't know am i?"

"You're the prettiest girl I've ever seen in my life. Inside and out." he says

"And you're the greatest guy in the whole world" I say

"You really think so?"

"Absolute-..."

He cuts me off my pressing his lips into mine. We sit there for about 30 seconds before all the rain stopped. It was like the whole world had stopped.

"Mary?" he says in a sweet voice

"Yes?" I say back to him

"Will you be my girlfriend?"

I blushed again and said "Absolutely, but don't tell everyone ok?"

"I cross my heart" he says

We sit there for another hour until the sun goes down. We walk hand in hand together until we reach my house.
