An Ocean's Calling

I hear it, the waves calling me.

As it crashes against the shore vigorously.

The tide sucks me in,

With every flow of the current.

The sun captures my eyes,

locking me in its deep spell, forever tainted.

The sand clings to me,

Every grain a moment of my imperfect.

Allow the heat to penetrate you,

To make you one with them.

See the footsteps of quiet passing,

Of a man who finds his peace.

A peace which all of us long for,

What we silently linger for.

Our beach, mine and yours.

That is what we shall call it, our escape.

I can compare you to this ocean, to my sky.

You're just as beautiful, just as real.

But you are distant, as this spacious area is.

And I long for you, like I long for my peace.

But I can't have any of it, not now, not yet.
