Another Friend Would Be Great

All I've ever wanted is some friends. As I said before, I have my very best friend, Lisa. However, because of the fact that she is a girl, we obviously can't do everything together. Every time that I try to hang out with Lisa and her friends, people start making the impression that I'm gay. I push them aside and move on with my life, not caring what those haters think. There is this one guy who thinks that he is better than everyone else. His name is Ben. He picks on me a lot, being the bully that he is. Everyone laughs when he picks on me, and I have to force back the tears every time. That's the only time when people actually notice me and not be distracted by something else.
One day, Ben did something that I would've never saw coming. I was walking to the bathroom and I turned around to see that he was following me. I started running so that I could lock myself in the stall. How was that gonna stop him, I thought. You can't stop the inevitable. And the inevitable at that time, I thought, was that Ben was going to beat down the door and beat me up just for fun. Well, I thought! He beat down the door.
And he apologized.
"I'm sorry, Evan. I finally realized that every time that I pick on you and be mean and a jerk, I'm just making your life even more miserable."
"Wai-" I tried to stop him there because somehow I felt that he was playing a trick on me, but he cut me off and kept spilling his guts all over me.
"I always saw it as a game on my part. For my entertainment. Then yesterday the only thing I thought about all day long was how hurt you must be. I know it doesn't sound like me, but I am so terribly sorry."

I am very shocked right now. The only things that I was prepared for was a beating or a swirly. Not an apology.

"So, the boys and I are having a party tonight and Derrick's house. We want you to come. What do you say?"

Wow. The tables sure have turned.
" I don't know... My mom won't let me. I already know."
"Well thats why theres something called sneaking out."
Ben wasn't making any sense right now. Why was he inviting me to his party? ME! But I haven't been to a party since Lisa's 8th birthday party. Also, I could really use a friend and I thought that this could be my chance to have another friend. Reluctantly, I chose to go.  "Ok, I'll sneak out."
