The smack of balls resounded off the walls and shouts from every team could be heard in each corner of the gym.
"Alright, time out" Ukai called. Sugawara had been playing so Kageyama could have a break. Suga jogged up to Kiyoko who was giving out water bottles.
"Thanks, Kiyoko" he said a little breathlessly.
"You're playing well. Good job" She replied. At this a flicker of uncertainty flashed through his eyes. He did that a lot now when she complimented him.
"You did it again" she said.
"Did what?"
"Looked sad when I said 'good job'" she explained.
He sighed, then said, "I just wish we could be how we were before the incident-"
"You know we can't be like that!" She shouted, drawing the attention of the other teams. By this point everyone was looking to see what had caused kiyoko to display so much emotion. As she turned to run for the gym door, his hand  wrapped around her wrist.
Sugawara was looking at the floor, his eyes covered by his silver bangs while kiyoko was still frozen reaching out for the door.
"Koushi, let me go..." she pleaded, her voice cracking on the final words. A single tear edged down suga'a cheek and his grip loosened enough for her to make a break for the door. She didn't stay long enough to see Sugawara collapse to his knees and heave in breaths to keep himself from sobbing.
