It was raining with sorrow, loneliness, and depression. The only three things a person can think about when you're homeless with an abuse parent....and that was Midnight. She walked in the rain with no umbrella and was crying.
Midnight Chong was a fourteen year old Korean-American who lives with her drunk, abuse dad and can't get him arrested because he works for the police and police think she's crazy for trying to arrest a cop who is her father. Her mother died due to child birth and Mr. Chong blames her for her mother's death. Midnight looked at the moon and started talking.
"Remember I love you."
"Remember that I care about you."
"Remember that I'm here that you."
"And if you kill yourself, you will kill a part of me too."
"Midnight, what the hell do you think you're doing?" She turned around and saw the thirty-three year old man walking up to her. "Yes dad?" He just scoffed at her and grabbed her wrist. He pushed her in the car and sat in his seat. "Don't act cute. You still get punished for leaving the house in the middle of the night." Midnight just mumbled something under her breath for Mr. Chong or Charles to not understand what she said. "What did you said? You know I hate you talking quietly at me!" Charles yelled at her.
"YOU ARE A BASTARD! YOU FUCKING LIED TO ME! MY MOM IS IN JAIL BECAUSE YOU ARRESTED HER FOR SAYING, SHE WAS TRYING TO ABUSE ME! BUT IT WAS YOU!"
Charles stopped the car and got out. He walked to Midnight's side and pulled her out of the car. "Let go of me! Let go of-" She fall on the ground but got up and looked at Charles holding a needle. "Hope you have a good night, Midnight." He stuck the needle in her neck and she passed out of his arms.
Midnight's P.O.V
I woke up and looked around to him not in bed. I fell to the floor; I can tell he had sex with me. As I turned around and saw it was Monday the 16th, I been out 15 days. Just to find out...
I'M PREGNANT!
I ran to the bathroom and threw up. Two things: One, not letting my dad find out and abuse my kid or kids and Two, kill the bastard and make it look suicide. I got up and went downstairs and unfortunately find Charles and a slut kissing. "I'm in a house full of whores and bastards." I muttered and walked into the kitchen with my notebook and purple pen. I sat my stuff down on the table and begin cooking breakfast but stopped when I heard someone read my poem.
1 min. after midnight black is the dominant color.
1 min. after midnight spiders spins webs of dreams.
1 min. after midnight owls hoot and haunt think forests.
1 min. after midnight stars begins to people-gaze.
1 min. after midnight words dance in books while authors sleep.
I turned to see the whore reading my poems to the bastard. "Don't touch my stuff." I snatched my book out of her ugly hands. "Sweetie, she is being mean to me." I rolled my eyes at what the slut said. "Apologize, Maggie." He grunted. "No. By the way, it's Midnight." He slammed his fist on the table causing me and the whore to jump. "Apologize! Now, Megan!" I walked up to him and yelled in his face. "No! And, it's Midnight!" I placed a knife at his throat and he chuckled.
"Do it. I got a witness." I looked at the whore; she was holding a cell phone in her hand while smiling. I placed the knife on the table and they laughed at me. "Apologize." Charles said. "I'm sorry." I sighed in defend. "Thanks...bitch." The whore replied. "I hope both of you get AIDS." I left the house to calm my mind so I decide to go to the park. I looked around and saw an ice cream truck; I walked to the truck smiling. "Can I have a chocolate?" The man nodded and fixed the ice cream. He handed me the ice cream and I paid him.
I sat on a bench and looked at the kids playing and pets running around. "You're so beautiful." I looked up to see twin girls sitting on each side of me. "Who are you?" The twin on left spoke first, "I'm Suri and that's Lily. We are Mad Hatters and our president, Sky wants you to join our group.

"What if I said no?" They laughed at me and Suri grabbed my chin. "You can't...Here is the address to the school we go to. Sky will be waiting." She handed me a card with the address and when I looked up, they were gone.
I went to the address and saw the twins outside. "You decide to join?" They asked with a smile. I just nodded and they walked me in the building upstairs to a room called Mad Hatters.
Lily knocked and a voice was heard. "Come in." I looked to see a girl holding a boy/girl in their lap. "I'm Sky...and I'm a girl, not a boy. I like to dress like a boy." I just nodded and looked at the girl who was still in the chair. "Oh, this is Yuki. Try to get on her good side." Sky replied with a small smile.
Yuki got up and walked up to me, I was scared like a little puppy when she leaned in to my face. 'Space, please!' I thought. "What's your weakness?" "What...my weakness? I don't like spiders, heights, clowns..." The twins giggled at me and yelled, "She's so stupid!" I looked at them with curiously. "Sky, she is dumb. Why you picked her?" Yuki mumbled loudly for everyone in the room to hear. "She is dumb. Leave." Sky ordered me.
"Wait? You're calling me dumb... all because of a stupid question about my weakness. You're the one who wants me to join and then you said leave because I'm dumb. I maybe dumb but I'm the one who's going to beat your ass!" They looked with shocked expression as Sky walked up to me and said,
