Chapter 1 Regret about the past

Obi's POV

I was with Shirayuki in the royal gardens. She asked me to help her with picking up some herbs. She said she needed to study some rare species. This girl sure studies a lot. But it was fun. I always look forward to spend some time with her.

We were almost done when I spotted Mitsuhide running towards us in the distance. He stopped in front of me breathless. "Here you are, finally." he said once he caught his breath.

"Hey Mitsuhide, were you looking for me?" I asked.

"Actually yes. Prince Zen wants you to meet him at his office. He said he found you a partner to work with."

"Oh right, he told me he would find me one. Sorry miss, I have to go. See you later" I waved goodbye to Shirayuki before making my way to the castle. I ran all the way up to the master's office. I stopped in front of the door and knocked twice. "Come in" I heard master say. I opened the door and stepped in. "This is your new partner, Y/N."

The blondie in front of me turned around to face me. I froze in my tracks. There she was, looking at me completely dumbfounded. How was that even possible? I thought she was dead. "Life is a bitch" She said, almost whispering, but it sounded more like a growl.

She started making her way out but I grabbed her arm. "Y/N-" I tried to speak but she pulled her arm away.

"DON'T TOUCH ME" She shouted and run out.

"Y/N, WAIT" I followed her. Master was calling my name but I didn't listen. I was running after her. She was alive. Thank god.

She climbed a tree and started jumping from tree to tree. I was calling her name, I asked her to stop but she wouldn't listen to me. Finally, I managed to reach her and then I took my chance. I grabbed her t-shirt to make her stop and we both fell on the ground. She fell on top of me and I was hugging her tight. I would never let her go again.

"GET OFF ASSHOLE" She pushed me away and stood up. I stood up as well. Her back was facing me but this time she was walking instead of running.

"Y/N, please-" before I could say anything else, she interrupted me by punching me in the face. Then she pushed me and I fell on the ground again.

"Ow" I muttered, struggling to get up.

"FUCK YOU, OBI. I AM NOT BECOMING YOUR PARTNER AGAIN. TELL MISTER CHARMING TO FIND SOMEONE ELSE. I QUIT"

"Y/N, listen to me, please" I begged.

"LISTEN TO YOU? WHERE THE HELL WERE YOU ALL THIS TIME? LET ME TELL YOU. WHILE I WAS GOING THROUGH HELL AND BACK, YOU WERE LIVING IN A CASTLE, SLEEPING IN YOUR COMFY ASS BED, SOCIALIZING WITH SPOILED ARISTOCRATS, AND EATING WITH GOLDEN SPOONS!"

"Y/N, I-"

"I trusted you. To me you were a lot more than just a partner. You were my best friend. And you betrayed me. Do you have any idea what I've been through? I was being tortured for two fucking years. But what is a good friend in front of money, huh? I can still remember you saying you hated royals and their stupid money. And then you went and chose them over me."

"Y/N-"

"You know what's funny?" She laughed bitterly, as a tear escaped her eyes. I had never seen her cry before and now ahe was crying because of me. "The only thought that kept me alive all this time was the thought you would come to save me. I never stopped believing in you. I never lost my faith in you." She stopped talking for a while as she wiped her tears away, taking a deep breath. "But one day, I lost all my hopes. I realized you wouldn't come back for me. So I escaped on my own" She was about to burst in tears, but I knew she wouldn't let me see her cry.

"Y/N, I'm really sorry"

I'm sorry. It was the only thing I could say to her.

"Yeah, of course you are." Was the last thing she said. Then she walked away.

I headed back to the castle feeling completely empty. She hated me. The person I cared about the most hated me.

When I got back master run up to me.

Obi, are you ok? Why is your nose bleeding?"

My nose? "Huh?" I touched my nose. There was blood. I didn't even notice... "Oh that. Y/N punched me"

"Who was that girl anyway? What did she have to do with you?"

"We used to be partners and also best friends. That was a long time ago" I said without looking at him. My gaze was on the direction she had left.

"Why would she punch you then?"

"Because I let her down. I broke her trust and now she hates me." My eyes fell on the ground. I felt ashamed talking about this. "She also told me she won't accept to be my partner again. I'm sorry master"

"Well, that's a shame. She would be perfect for the job. But now I will have to find someone else, I guess"

"I will accept the job" I turned around only to see Y/N standing behind us.

"What?" I muttered. Why would she accept the job? She hates me.
