Chapter 6: Seizures and Stress

After a little while Adrienne woke up. Her mom was beside her.

"Mom? Can you get the doctor?" Asked Adrienne.

"Sure... Why? Is something wrong?" Asked Fiona.

"No, just can you get him?"

"Yes of course!" Said Fiona and walked out.

"Ms. Williams is something wrong?" Asked the doctor.

"No... Or well I just want to know when I get to go home?" Asked Adrienne.

"I don't know... It's weird what happened to you because everything seems normal right know. We can't figure out what happened! Is anything that might be related to anxiety or things that are stressing you out?" Asked the doctor.

"Well yeah! Big things!" Said Adrienne.

"Well that is not only there is something more, it couldn't be all because of anxiety... Are there any heart problems in your family?" Asked the doctor.

"Yes... My dad is here... he is not waking up after he had a heart attack! He's in a coma!" Said Adrienne worried.

"Oh... We need to get that checked out as soon as possible! Said the doctor. I'm going to get another doctor, i'll be right back!"

"Okay!" Said Adrienne as she looked nervously at Fiona. "Can you get Aaron and then please call my friends?"

"Yes. Sure!" Said Fiona and walked to look for Aaron.

When Aaron came Adrienne was crying.

"Adrienne? What's wrong?" Asked Aaron.

"There may be something wrong with my heart!" Said Adrienne as she tried to wipe away her tears.

"What? No... Not you too! You're one of my best friend and you are of course my sister... Our dad is..." Said Aaron as a tear started to run down his cheek.

"I know..." Said Adrienne. " Can you get Brandon?"

"Yeah, I'll be right back," said Aaron.

When he came back with Brandon, Adrienne asked him to sit beside her.

"Aaron can you give us a minute?" Asked Adrienne.

"Sure." Said Aaron and walked out of them room.

"Brandon... Have you heard about a man whose name is Carl Brown?" Asked Adrienne.

"No?"

"He is twenty-five years old and I... I used to date him... And that's not the worst part."

"What is the worst part?" 

"He is a murderer... And he killed... He killed grams..." Said Adrienne as her voice was breaking.

"Oh..."

"I did things that I regret... Stealing, drinking, smoking..." Said Adrienne as tears went down her cheeks.

Brandon kissed her on the forehead. "I won't and would never judge you!"

"Thank you." Said Adrienne and smiled through her tears.

The doctor came with a another doctor.

"Ms. Williams, we're going to take blood sample and tests to check if there's anything wrong with your heart." Said the doctor.

They came back after a little bit, and Fiona too.

"There isn't something with your heart. You had a seizure. You have a seizure disorder also known as Epilepsy and it can't be cured but treatments can help. Epilepsy is not caused by mental illness or mental retardation. Sometimes severe seizure can cause brain damage, but most seizures do not seem to have a detrimental effect on the brain. Epilepsy has many possible causes, from illness to brain damage to abnormal brain development."
