Scott may or may not be the best thing that’s ever happened to Isaac, in which he wished that it wouldn’t be the latter.
Having to live your life like a frightening nightmare, Isaac has never had anyone in his life, especially when Camden died and he was left with his father. Every day of his life, he has to relieve every moment, every torture he had received from his supposedly guardian. He could still remember before that he had wished to be put out of his misery; he prayed that one day the beating would just stop.
But after his father died, and he thought that life would get better, he was wrong.
“Isaac, dude. Are you alright?” Isaac looked at the puppy dog-eyes who happened to be Scott. He just smiled decisively, trying to look that he’s alright, but he knew that Scott knew him all too well.
“I’m fine.” He tried to sound upbeat, livelier, trying to add excitement to his voice, but it was impossible to not notice that he failed miserably. There was pain and disappointment in his voice that even he, couldn’t fathom why. He was just sad.
“Yea, says the one who looked like he’s about to jump off a cliff!” Scott joked, and Isaac thought that he smiled slightly at Scott’s attempt at being funny. Yes, Scott is funny, but not the Stiles-kind-of-humor, Scott was more of a child who wanted all the attention, not that Isaac wasn’t fine with that. In fact, he enjoyed Scott’s company.
“I’m okay, really.” This time, he said it more prevailing to Scott to avoid asking, but this time; Scott put both of his hands to Isaac’s shoulder, grinning a little bit.
“As if I believe that.” Scott announces, looking at Isaac straight in the eyes.
Isaac wasn’t sure how it all happened but all he knew was that he was holding hands with this lopsided jaw, puppy dog-eyes kid, who’s name is Scott McCall. And he wasn’t even complaining.
Running up a hill was never Isaac’s favorite. He hated walking, let alone running, to higher places. But he didn’t want to object at Scott who was half dragging, half-holding his hands.
When they were finished walking, Isaac couldn’t speak, partly because the scenery took his breathe away and that almost half an hour of walk also took his breathe away. In front of him was the sky, it’s already afternoon so even though the sun shone its warming rays, it didn’t hurt. And Isaac thought he was at the top of the world.
“This is breathtaking.” Isaac says softly, genuinely.
“I brought you here because my father used to bring me here every time I’m sad when I was a kid. This place is so important to me.” Scott honestly told him and Isaac smiled, a real one this time.
He walked near the cliff and he sat there, watching at the sky. And for the first time in forever, in his whole life of suffering and misery, he finally felt that he belonged.
“Please don’t jump there.” Scott’s voice came from behind, it was a joke but Isaac felt that sincerity in every word that Scott has said. Everything that Scott said is pure sincerity and plain genuineness.
“I wont.” Isaac shrugs.
“I know.” Scott replies and they stare at each other for a while and Isaac didn’t know if Scott was trying to communicate with him.
Several time passed by, Isaac announced that he has to leave or Derek will kill him. (This is half-true now that Derek was his legal guardian)
“Thank you for bringing me here.” Isaac stood and walked over to Scott. His hand stayed at Scott’s biceps longer that necessary. He wasn’t sure if because Scott’s muscle was so bulky or that he just really wanted to hold Scott, make skin contact with him.
“Yeah.” Scott says.
Isaac moved away from Scott, and he wasn’t sure if he really wanted to go anywhere without Scott, his guardian angel.
Isaac left. But it wasn't a painful goodbye, it was sweet and timely for all that mattered. Because he knew that in the morning tomorrow and the morning after tomorrow he doesn't have to be all by himself.
He has found a home.
Scott McCall is home.
